Jane's line is a highly-sophisticated blend of minerals and pigments that are micro-pulverized, using proprietary technology and processes to form microscopic flat crystals. These crystals overlap each other on the skin to form a filter that allows the skin to breathe and function normally while still protecting it from air-borne pollutants. The staying power of the minerals is so great that they rarely need a touch-up during the day. And because these silky-feeling powders are water resistant, they won't crease or smear even during the most strenuous exercise.

These state-of-the-art minerals are available in so many shades that there's one for every complexion no matter what the ethnicity.

Ingredient List:
Active Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide Derived from Titanium, which is extracted from the minerals such as rutile and Ilmenite. It gives the greatest covering and tinting power of any white pigment and it is listed in the FDA monograph as one of the purest and most effective active ingredients for sun protection. Zinc Oxide Also known as Flowers of Zinc, is derived from the mineral sphalerite which occurs in limestone and dolomites. Zinc is believed to encourage healing of skin disorders. It is insoluble in water. In an ointment it is used as an antiseptic and as a protection against skin diseases. Ingredients: Mica Found in nature in crystallized, thin elastic sheets that can be separated easily. They vary in color from pale green, brown, or black to colorless. It can be shiny or dull. We use mica for its gliding properties in a form that does not cause shine. Boron Nitride A raw ingredient originally used in the ceramics industry, it is now also produced to cosmetics grade. It is composed of flat, hexagonal, plate-like crystals that can freely slide over one another. Because of this composition, this white powder is added to cosmetics to enable a silky glide in application, and provides excellent adhesion and soft focus properties. Zinc Stearate Zinc Soap (a mixture of zinc salts). Widely used in cosmetics because it contributes to adhesive properties. Dimethicone Made from sand (silica) that is a combination of minerals but largely comprised of quartz. This state-of-the-art ingredient replaces the need for oils and is the coating on our micronized titanium dioxide. Dimethicone aids spreading, is transfer resistant and imparts a remarkable smoothness and creaminess to the overall product. It also improves coverage without adding heaviness. And, it is non-comedogenic and highly water repellent. It gives micronized titanium dioxide the highest light refractive ability of any titanium. This outstanding ingredient is one of the driving forces behind the creative evolution of color cosmetics. More... Stearic Acid Derived from butter acids, cascarilla bark and other oils. Used as a softener. Plankton Extract (Algae Extract 1, an Omega 3 acid) A high tech extract of sea minerals proven to nourish the skin, it enhances moisture retention beneficial for all skin types, but is especially beneficial for dry and mature skin. A documented anti-inflammatory which soothes sensitive skin. In addition to calming, it also encourages rebuilding of the skin’s lipid film barrier. This increases effective protection against moisture loss, so sensitive skin is not only protected, but actually improves. Algae Extract (Algae Extract 2) Potent sea mineral extract which nourishes, soothes and protects all skins, even mature and sensitive skin. It may help to increase the skin’s moisture content while acting as an anti-inflammatory, effectively improving the quality of sensitive skin. Helps protect against the effects of UV radiation and helps enable UV-damaged cells to be eliminated more effectively. It inhibits burn cell growth, reducing the inflammation from sunburn. Pomegranate Extract A potent natural antioxidant containing ellagic acid, which protects skin cells from the aging effects of free radical damage. It also boosts sunscreen protection and acts as a natural preservative.

Jane Iredale's Amazing Base

Jane Iredale - FINALLY!!!!!!
After trying numerous products through the years and spending a fortune, this is FINALLY the makeup that is working for me! I recently spent a weekend at a spa that specialized in Rosacea treatments using Pevonia RS2 & Jane Iredale products. The girls I went to the spa with could not believe the difference in my face!!! With other make up, the red is shining through by noon, however, with this it is rare I have a bleed through and if I do it is just a matter of applying a little more of the powder. It is a little pricey, however, if you look around on the internet you can find it much cheaper than in the spas/dermatologist offices. I would suggest trying a "sample" for a while before you actually invest in the full size product - that way you can find your right color and see if it is going to work for you. Most spas will give you free samples or you can find on ebay.

worth the price
I had always had great looking skin until my late 30's when I developed rosacea. Regular foundations did not cover the redness, unless I layered the product, which then looked thick and awful. A few years ago, my dermatologist recommended trying mineral makeup. Jane Iredale was the third line I tried and I cannot tell you how big a difference the product has made. My skin looks clear and smooth, but not "fake". The redness barely shows and the foundation has actually helped my skin. An added bonus is the natural SPF. I recommend trying samples as the colors look different in the containers than they do on. Don;t let the price scare you off; the product lasts a long time, if used correctly. I recommend Jane Iredale to everyone.

Jane Iredale's products
I have used the base for over a year now. It does not sting my face or burn if it gets into my eyes when I sweat. I get it at my plastic surgeon/spa office. She also gives me lots of samples to travel with. I use the base, the blush...just a tad high up on my cheek, and a darker color for the hollows under my cheeks and under my neck. I use quite a bit on my cheeks and less everywhere else. Be careful of the brush if you apply it with one. I went thru several to finally find one I was not allergic to. So glad to have found one that does not hurt me and tones down the red. I am 60 and I spring for lazer touchups each year. The first year took 5 treatments and it was expensive, but now it is just once a year to zap the redness of the bloodvessels on my cheeks and she even does the brown spots on my face and hands. Just $100 or so at a time. I look so much better than I did before I started it all.

Rosacea gone!
After having had rosacea for years, it is finally gone. The only change is my switch to using Jane Iredale powder in the morning. I moisterise in the morning only using Avene, however it is since using this powder (for thge last 2 years), that my skin has recovered. I don't evenb wash my face, I go to bed in the powder (it is very light) and I feel as though it has actually healed my skin, as well as reducing the visability of redness.

SO Needed
As I turned 45 I suddenly struggled with serious flare ups and lesions. My dermatologist diagnosed rosacea and prescirbed Plexion and Metrogel and more recently Clindimycin for sever breakouts. As I presented rosacea symptoms, I also found I was allergic to almost every skin/hair line. For example, I once used bare essentials but stopped due to the hot, lesions that would erupt all over my face. I'm still looking for a good cleanser and sun block. Thankfully, I did find Jane Iredale! I was absolutely stunned, fully expecting to go thru my usual flash and boil episodes after applying, but not so! I love this line. It's a little dry so you need a setting powder and/or moisturizer, but I don't use either believe it or not. I just wash my face with Plexion..wait and apply the pressed power with clean non-allergic brushes. My skin is fairly oily but not after I wash it. After a few hours, my natural oils sets the powder so perfectly my own dermatologist is stunned at my complexion before and after I wash at her office. I have terrible red and brown marks from months of flare ups, but the Jane line covers it perfectly. Since I don't use a concealer, I do have to touch it up a tad thru the day, but a dot here a tab there. Best of all, of course, is that in over a year of use the product has never forced a flare up from my eruption-prone skin. Thank you Jane!

Rosacea Subtypes
Subtype 1: Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea
characterized by flushing and persistent redness, and may also include visible blood vessels.
Subtype 2: Papulopustular rosacea
characterized by persistent redness with transient bumps and pimples.
Subtype 3: Phymatous rosacea
characterized by skin thickening, often resulting in an enlargement of the nose from excess tissue.
Subtype 4: Ocular rosacea
characterized by ocular manifestations such as dry eye, tearing and burning, swollen eyelids, recurrent styes and potential vision loss from corneal damage.

Rosacea Stages
Pre-Rosacea
the first cardinal sign of rosacea: blood vessels dilate to more stimuli, open wider and stay open for longer periods of time compared to normal persons. No visible damage can normally be seen.
Mild Rosacea
begins when the facial redness induced by flushing persists for an abnormal length of time - usually 1/2 an hour or more after a trigger. Those who have frequent pre-rosacea flushing are highly susceptible to progressing to mild rosacea. Some of the common triggers for a facial flush are heat, cold, emotions, exercise, topical irritants and allergic reactions.
Moderate Rosacea
as facial flushing becomes more frequent and intense, vascular damage occurs. This can result in long lasting redness, swelling and inflammatory papules and pustules. Telangiectasia (damaged micro blood vessels, often visible on the surface of the skin) may be noticed in the areas where flushing is worst.
Severe Rosacaea
characterised by intense bouts of facial flushing, severe inflammation, facial pain, swelling and burning sensations. Sufferers may develop intolerance to products they were able to use before. Also inflammatory papules, pustules and nodules may be present. Some experience a bulbous enlargement of the nose, known as rhinophyma. This is just a guide, you may of course experience symptoms outside these ranges.
