RRDi update
The RRDi was incorporated in in June 2004 in the state of Hawaii as a non profit organization with a mission statement to be the first non profit organized by rosaceans for rosaceans that would not spend the majority of its donations on private contractors or administration. Here is a breakdown of what has happened since them:
Donations Received:
2004:
$695.00
2005:
$747.50
2006:
$1304.87
2007:
$750.00
2008:
$50.00
2009:
$0
Total Donations Received:
$3547.37
We spent most of the money on our web site, paypal fees, etc., and at the end of 2008 we had a balance on hand of $1678.97. By the end of 2009 we had spent an additional $916.24 on our web site, paypal fees and the cost to publish our new Journal of the RRDi which came out in March 2010 after countless hours of volunteer work by a team of volunteers. At the end of 2009 we had a balance on hand in the bank of $ 762.73 which we are now spending on shipping complimentary copies of the journal to physicians and pharmaceutical companies which has depleted our funds.
This journal is the hard work of many rosacean volunteers. We hope to continue its publication. It depends on whether we impress enough rosaceans, physicians, and pharmaceutical companies. We hope that rosaceans will want this journal to continue and be an independent voice for rosaceans who are suffering from this disease.
For those newbies who have no idea of the past history of the RRDi and would like to know how this organization started, one initial post that goes way back was post #45024 at R-S. There was some discussion about trying to bring rosaceans together to do something about the little being done for rosacea. I posted a short history of what happened at this forum if you scroll down to post #55. The nutshell version is that the RRDi was formed because I felt the NRS is wanting and felt it could be done better. Some rosaceans felt the same way and the end result after all this time is that a little over 600 members have joined the RRDi and produced the Journal of the RRDi. If you too feel that the RRDi is worth pursuing then please join us. We could use your help.
