Default Topical sodium bicarbonate

I've been feeling experimental lately.

So I had a flush going (vessels are still reactive from the oxymetazoline experiment) and it's wasn't dying down, an hour, two hours go by so I put some cetaphil on my face and then put baking soda on top of that.

It worked. Not immediately, but within 45 minutes I was back to baseline.

One explanation is that it felt cool against my face.

But it might also be antiinflammatory and antifungal.

A very simple, inexpensive experiment, if anyone else wants to try.

I know it sounds crazy, but my skin has been awesome the last 2 days that I've been doing this. It's the only thing I've done differently.

My rationale was that sodium bicarbonate is definitely antifungal, and perhaps antiinflammatory as well. I know I have fungus on my face, because seb derm is caused by a fungus and I've had seb derm lately. So I thought, "what if the fungus is present not just where I see signs of seb derm, but all over my face? And what if it's aggravating my rosacea?"

I know, I know, it's too good to be true. But then why has my skin looked so good the past two days?

Hey, thanks for trying it ... I want it to work for someone else so I don't feel crazy.

I'm waiting for the effects to wear off, but my skin has been awesome again this morning.

It's amazing because 3 days ago I was in despair over the flushiness that the oxymetazoline had caused. I thought I'd damaged my skin permanently.

I've done a little searching and found that this can help eczema too.

Actually it's the Equate brand, which is the Wal-mart equivalent. It's the fragrance-free moisturizer for sensitive skin.

And just to clarify, when I said I was "waiting for the effects to wear off" I didn't mean I only did it once... I'm actually doing it twice daily, leaving it on 30-45 minutes each time.

Sure, the function of the moisturizer is mostly to get the powder to stick on the face.

When I tried it I just dissolved it in a little water and splashed it on. I also used it a a wash for my eyes and it helps that too
