Default Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)

It might be worth thinking about epidermal growth factor before going through IPL/Laser. It is meant to help to build the thickness of the epidermis. It is availabel through the Skin Actives website and alot of peole over on the Yahoo group have been having sucess. Of course if your skin is too sensitvie it might aggrevate it.

My skin has also benefited from low dose n-light laser which has helped calm the skin and thicken it (I think).

Can you further explain this growth factor? Anyone else aware of this? Nase introduced us to a product that had something like this but it turned out to be a bust.

Thank you for the link phlika29. I just checked it out and recommend anyone wanting to learn about EGF do the same.

From that site:

Further Information: In 1986, Stanley Cohen received the Nobel Prize (http://nobelprize.org/medicine/laure...en-lecture.pdf ) for his work elucidating the role of the Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) in the regulation of cell growth and development. EGF is a growth factor that plays an important role in the regulation of cell growth, cell proliferation and differentiation. As other growth factors, it is a small protein. EGF acts by binding to specific receptors on the cell surface, starting a cascade of very organized molecular events, including increased intracellular calcium concentration, energy production and protein synthesis.

I've just ordered some, and some other interesting stuff...

Of course anyone can read that, but I dont find it to mean much. If it came about in 1986 why has it not come to more prominance? What I am more interested in, other than these blurbs, is actual results from users and their personal experience. How do we know this is not something that can be harmful?

Better yet, "UFO" has 51,500,500 hits.

And what does 7 billion hits mean to rosacea? Of course when I say prominance, I am referring to its usage in rosacea...not just "whatever". I dont really care if there are 100 trillion hits...doesnt mean jack to me. There seem to be few reports of EGF on this site. Think I will check out the yahoo group...I didnt even know it was still going strong.

The "New Posts" feature will give you an outline of all current activity across many boards and sites. Also very useful, a powerful Search Engine is located at the top of the page under the logo.

The Yahoo! Group is excellent. I hope you find it helpful.

Cheers,

Okay I'm not the best person to ask re EGF. As far as I'm aware Nase has never mentioned it. All I know is that this was developed and used for cancer patients.

If you check the yahoo site this came to attention about six months ago when people there started to use the sea kelp, EGF and licorice as a way of calming the skin. The beauty of Skin Actives is that it is sold seperatly and so you can make up your own versions of whatever you fancy.

Nurseartisit had been extremtly good about posting about this and my advice would be to search her posts both on yahoo site and over at the skin actives one. At the time alot of people were/are using it and gaining much benefit I'm surprised it never made it over on this site.

Okay I done a quick search back through the yahoo site. Here are some messages that might help. The main concern seems to be cancer growth in certain skins.

I think the poster was referring to Neocutis.
