Default Photosensitive products

Having had such a bad experience with IPL due to the fact that my skin had been made photosensitive by a product, I thought it might be a good idea for an expert in the field of IPL to list products, creams etc, which if used while on IPL would make face photosensitive. I know Rosex cream is one although I have heard that you can still use this in between treatments.

A good idea. However, the "experts" don't know it all.

I also had a bad reaction to IPL. After the damage was done I found reference on the internet that vaseline (which I used daily) could make skin photosensitive. I queried with my IPL doc whether my using vaseline (and other petrolatum products like e45 wash cream) could be the reason for my bad IPL experience (and extreme sun sensitivty since starting IPL) and he said it was possible but he didn't know of any scientific studies that indicate that these products can cause photosensitivity with IPL specifically. But that could just be b/c no studies have been done. Scienctific studies will only take us so far with what my GP calls "poorly understood" conditions like rosacea, for the rest we have to share experiences and learn from each other.

How very strange. I had been using E45 wash about a week before my third treatment. Could this be a coincidence or maybe not? I always thought that E45 cream which I have used for 5 years was so bland but as for the E45 wash - I thought this was too. Maybe petroleum based does have an adverse effect.

The following are photosensitive stuff that I know of:-

Drugs - Antibiotics, Asprin, Accutane (stop 6/9 months before treatment)
Herts - St John's Wort (oral)
Creams - retin A, Renova, creams containing acids, Rozex, retinoids, hydroquinone, creams containing petroleum?

There are probably plenty of others but if you guys would like to add any you know of we could get together a pretty good list.
