Oil and water don't mix. How/why does it help to apply oil with wet hands on wet skin?

No idea. It works.
I imagine one could even construct a theory in which the reluctance of oil and water to mix is the very reason for the efficacy of the approach...no matter.

Not a peculiar fetish of mine, by the way, this approach. Many manufacturers/ sellers advocate it; many rosaceans too. The sort of knowledge that might die out. Good to give it an airing from time to time.

For those who need a moisturiser and whose skin is hyper-reactive, the oil +water approach will often prove helpful; should perhaps be the first port of call.

Hi

I don't know which is the best oil but rosaceans have been using, and having success with, jojoba and coconut oil for quite some time.

It might be that grapeseed oil is also very good. Other rosaceans use emu oil. And so on.

Jojoba oil and coconut oil are pretty safe bets and you can probably find them - at very reasonable prices - at your local healthfood store. Simple, inexpensive, effective.

Hi Auburn

I applied it to just my face (not forehead though) but as with jojoba oil it gave me a seb derm flair. By that I mean my skin got very oily, rough and itchy which made it redder and flushy. What normally happens is that it seems okay for the first few days but then worsens the seb derm. I understand that oil based products can do this and in fact most moisturizers set it off. I applied it in the morning and washed it off at night. Sorry, no idea what brand it was, just from the local health food shop.
