IPL treatment received facial burns after 3 treatments!
Hi
Firstly hello everyone this is my first post
I have suffered from extreme blushing for the last five years and decided to have IPL treatment. Each session I have found to be quite uncomfortable and on my third treatment
I seem to have had a bad reaction.Where I had contact my face swelled and blistered overnight. Then the blister burst and I have had puss and weeping coming out where the blister was.It has now scabbed up and my face was pretty sore and swollen for a couple of weeks.I still have scarring even now and feel I cannot go on with the treatment as it is fairly uncomfortable and now I have had this reaction to my face.
I paid £875 for a course of 5 traetments,do you think I can cancel the other 2 treatments and get my money back.Or can I claim damages for the scarring to my face? I am still looking for a cure to my blushing to.
cheers

I am sorry to hear about your traumatic experience with IPL.
Firstly, did you consult a doctor about those burns?
If they are treated correctly immediately, the damage is often less severe.
Could you please describe the scarring? Different texture? Depressions?
I don't know anything about claims in the UK, but no matter what action you take, you must show your treating practioner. The energies you were treated with were far too high.
I don't know if this applies to your type of scar or not, but I do know there is some kind of silicone patch which can be applied to scars which can lessen them. The sooner you get to a doctor the better.
I believe Dr Crouch treats patients who have received burns from IPL and Laser.

I had a couple of burns/blister from IPL. Mercifully, in my case, they healed.
I would discontinue treatment with the current practitioner.
Are you using anything else on your skin that might make is especially susceptible to burns? Anything that thins the skin etc?
Personally, before my IPL sessions I had to sign a form that disclaimed liability on the part of the practitioner - i.e. I accepted that (e.g.) burns might result. Hence I wouldn't have been able to sue for damages. Did you sign anything like that?
Mistica is right that the energies used will most likely have been too high. This is the fault of the practitioner. It shouldn't happen.

I am confused over these scars you mentioned.
I have been burned on several occasions. Badly, on two of them. The energies were far too high and the areas developed a black graze type crust. Over the next few weeks, they flaked off and left pinkish skin, which hyperpigmented. I have olive skin and it is prone to this.
I hated it, of course, however, these were not scars. The integrity of the skin was not compromised.
I have also had a couple of blisters which required a topical antibiotic ointment.
They did not ooze pus.
Could you please clarify your state?
If you did not actually develop scarring, you should be able to continue IPL, but I would certainly make sure the energies were reduced in the future, no matter who you choose as a practioner.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear that you have suffered this. May I ask that you provide some background so that people may be offer their help and advice.
When you did you have the treatment?
How bad was the burn?
What is your skin like now?
What are you using on it?
When you say it is darker what do you mean?
Best wishes
Sarah

I have scarring around my nose from IPL treatment. Not only did IPL make my rosacea much worse, but it has left me with red scars around my nostrils and nose. It has really been devastating. The practitioner who performed the treatment on me was way too aggressive. I would give anything to go back in time, as this one decision has changed the whole course of my life.
Subsequent vbeam treatments has made the rosacea more tolerable, but the scarring is something I am still struggling to come to terms with each day.

I had treatment before 2 months.
The burn was bad and my skin got blisters.
From the childhood I am pure white (more whiter than europeans) and now some part of burnt area is brown in colour,,which is easily visible.
My dermalogist told me to use Melaglow during night and a sunscreen (spf 50+) In day and in evening.
I mean to say that my face is getting darker due to this as small amont of UV can hurt me a lot,, But now my skin has adjusted with atleast PC screen and now I can sit before it without applying sunscreen,,,,,,, Problem is with CFL:S.....
Plzzzzzzz help me...
