Default anyone know a great dermatologist in Fort Worth?

Hello...I am newly diagnosed and started treatment with Metrogel 1% and doxycycline daily about 3 weeks ago.

Am not sure how well I like the derm I saw...not terribly thorough. Does anyone know a good (or better yet, great?) dermatologist in Fort Worth?

Also, for those of you experienced with the treatment I am currently using, how long did it take for these meds to make a difference in your symptoms?

    Thanks!

    Linda

    Hi lonestarbeetle

Just noticed your thread has gone unanswered. A belated welcome to the Forum!

Doxy and Metro are pretty much the standard given by docs when presented with a case of Rosacea. How's things going so far? I imagine you would have noticed some changes by now?

Doxy did help to reduce my p&p but not as much with the redness. I think the Metro may work if you are consistent with the application, as it is a topical antibiotic. I tried Rozex Gel 0.75% (same as Metro) but was probably a bit hap hazard in the application of it, so it didn't seem to do a lot for me. I think in the beginning it was ok but after a while (probably when I got a bit lazy about putting it on) it stopped working as well.

I'm off all meds and medicated topicals now. I hated the negative side effects from taking antibiotics and am now trying the natural approach of red light therapy and change in diet. It's working well so far.

Sorry, don't know of any derms in DFW.

    Good luck!

    Hi Jen,
Could you please tell me a bit about this red ligth therapy you are using? Also, which diet are you on? You are saying the two work well for you. Which stage were you? Have you tried any light, laser therapy?

    Thanks a bunch,
    Tanya

    Hi Tanya

I have a home made red LED array which I started using at the beginning of May this year. I believe it has an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin but will take several months before I see sugnificant improvement. I've written about it here:

    http://forum.rosaceagroup.org/viewtopic.php?t=3542

I'm on the Candida Diet http://groups.yahoo.com/group/candidasupport/
and have also written about it here:

    http://forum.rosaceagroup.org/viewtopic.php?t=3619

At worst, I had p&p, constant redness, burning, throbbing and swelling. The photo I posted was when my face started to improve already. I've not had any laser treatments.

    Hope this helps.

    Jen,

Thanks, it sure helps! I have to look into both the red light Tx and the Candida diet. Though I've been on this diet in the past due to some yeast problems which have cleared up for a while, since I've given birth to my daughter. But incidentally the pregnancy and breastfeeding made my rosacea worse, so may be there's truly a connection there!

It's a difficult diet to be on for me b/c of all sugars being limited, including fruit, if I can remember correctly. I can deal w/no processed sugars but I love my fruit! However, I am into my second 24 hours of fasting and when I stop at 48 anything will taste like honey to me, even the veggies!
