SarahJayne you need to go back through a lot of the posts in the various sections of this forum to get advice, and there is good info on diet, topical and oral treatments both prescription and non prescription.
Most people start by seeing there GP or a dermatoligist to get some conventional help, normally oral antibiotics and maybe metrogel!
There is no miracles with those things, but it should help to calm things down, and see what you can put on your skin to help like aloe or other things, there is so much info here about things.
Then you can start to research things like IPL and laser which has helped some of us a lot, and there are good people in the U.K. but its not for everybody.

    Hi sarahjayne1980

Welcome to the Rosacea Forum and I hope you find lots of helpful info on Roscaea here.

I moved your (first) thread to the Newbies area (from General) just to get you started in the Forum. Please do read the "Newbies 101 - Please Read First" post at the top of this area. Hopefully this will help a little.

There is also a search engine at the top of the page for looking up specific questions.

    Best of luck

    Hi Sarah,
for flushing, you might want to look at such meds as clonidine and/or propranlol to help. The first is an antihypertensive, the 2nd a beta blocker. Both can assist, though rarely completely stop, flushing for some.

Not sure how bad you are flushing, but if you're having a flare - wthich can be very hard to tell when you're new to it all as there is no baseline to measure against, antibiotics might also help to "break the cycle" of inflamation and help reduce the flushing from that angle, antibiotics often also help with the outbreaks.

There are also the "standard" things like trying to identify your triggers and avoid the worst of them if you can, drinking lots of water etc.

When my rosacea came out, it was very sudden and very new to me - I was flushing a lot very quickly and painfully. Looking back now, I would imagine I was in a bad flare - a period of time where something kicked the rosacea into a higher gear than "normal" (normal being a relative term here ) and I really should likely have been put on antibiotics to break that cycle, but my doctor was kinda useless in this process and I didn't know any better at the time.

    Good luck!

Some have found pure Aloe Vera gel works well for cooling - keep it in the fridge. My skin has become more tolerant after laser treatments and I find the Olay Sensitive Moisture Therapy Creme soothing and cooling. But when it comes to any moisturizers or lotions ... it is often very different for everyone depending on what they can tolerate.

If you haven't tried clonidine it can help with heat induced flushing ... providing it doesnt' give you the same issues beta blockers do.
