    Default nose swelling

    Hi All
I have been taking accutane for about 4/5 months .
    Here are my findings
My only problem i have is my nose ,this is continued to grow larger it is swollen more than ever .At the tip it is the worste & this is becoming harder so you can`t press it in ,the burning is still there but not so intense.
the oil that my nose produced as gone which is good news .
My life is sh--t at the moment all that is on my mind is my nose ,my grandad had a massive rhnomphia nose i will not live with that .
Does anyone know how long i will have to take my 10mg per day to get rid of my swollen nose ? its ironic that the rest of my face is perfect .
perhaps if i upped my 10 mg per day to 10 x 2 per day?.
Dr Nase i know you are busy getting your site up & running but i hope you still lookin on us still & try to answer this i need some sort of hope to cling to
my thoughts are with all you fellow members
    Shaun

this is where it usually goes wrong. I think you should lower your dose to 10 mg every other day. Also, perhaps find out what induce swelling. For me it seems like drinking and eating late is bad. Strangely enough, my swelling decreases dramatically from freezing temperatures, I have no clear idea why. Perhaps its only a short term solutions as I clearly get some edema on my cheeks, suggesting that the lymphatic system dislikes freezing temperatures. Perhaps the fibroblast activity is decreased from cold while the lymphatics are obstructed a little bit. Its claimed that heat should increase fibroblast activity in wound healing so perhaps the explanation lies here

In general it seems to be a good thing getting out a little bit in really freeezing temperatures, it seems to induce only some minor redness that abates very fast but to stimulate the epidermis to get thicker. Im not really convinced that trigger avoidance is the way to go anymore, somehow you gotta stimulate the skin once in a while or it would get even more diseased. Its just a question of not overstimulating the skin, like walking 50 miles in freezing temperatures and then jump into a sauna afterwards drinking Vodka.

    Default Hmmm

Well, I wouldn't say freezing temperature works, especially if there's wind involved. I went out today (lots of wind) and came back only to wash my face and find all sorts of red splotchy areas on my cheeks. BUT. When I go out and there isn't any wind (regardless of how cold the temperature is) and come back in, I have good skin for a few days after wards. -,- Maybe I should stick my head inside of a fridge for hours at a time to treat my rosacea.

Hi Shaun!!!! i really feel for you... im in the same boat!!!

Right now my face is perfectly clear except my nose. My nose is still swollen and bright red... I have lesions inside of both nostrils that won't clear up and are very painful.

I have to disagree with Fanta about freezing temps! Going outside for 1 minute in the cold causes my nose to immediately start to throb, swell and turn redder.

I'm in my 4th month on accutane (10mgs daily) and i think there is some SLIGHT improvement. I think the swelling is down a little bit. Its still ridiculously swollen and red though.

Ive had this disease now for over 2 years and its getting worse.

have a good day all... liz

Liz, Stay the course and I know one day very soon you'll wake up and you'll be amazed at your normal looking nose again. Just be patient and keep the faith.

    Hi Liz
Lets make a deal, the first one to get this nightmare under control ,the other one buys him/her a ice cold pint of beer .
Trying to keep off tea, coffee only drinking water& green tea i will see if this makes any difference.
I am going to stick with 10 mg a day for 12 months at least by then i hope there will be some improvement .
    Thanks Shaun

    Shaun,

Would have replied sooner but i was away. A fun trip to the caribbean. I was the one wearing a big floppy hat, shades and #50 sunblock completely whiting out my face!!! AND of course, sitting out of the sun!!!!

Hopefully, my face will be healed soon and i wont have to worry about my nose anymore!!!

    best wishes,
Liz (I like Bass Ale best)

    Hi Smudge.

I've been taking accutane for the same amount of time and the same dosage. My nose is the worst as well .. red mostly. Since taking the accutane, i'm no longer oily and my pores are much cleaner and smaller.

I'm sticking to the accutane for awhile yet .. maybe switching to every other day might help me?

    Take care
