    Default Orange Peel Texture

I have noticed in the past couple of months that my nose is developing the lovely orange peel texture with very deep pores. My nose is swollen now into a big blog with no nostril definition anymore. It looks ridiculous.

Ive been on low dose accutane for 3+ months now. Will the accutane get rid of the orange peel skin?

Hi Liz, I'm really sorry to hear that you've still not beaten down the rosacea-issue annoying your nose. I keep seeing this phrase "orange peel texture" across boards but have never really understood exactly what it is and why it is caused?

Are you able to post a close-up pic of your nose to see exactly the texture? It's cool if you wouldn't want to.

Liz, I hope that this change may mean that you're on the edge of a result. Hang in there (right, what else can you do?) and I hope someone who is familiar with the accutane cycle posts their interpretation.

    Hi Lisa and Bradely,

The orange peel texture is usually a good sign when on accutane. Accutane forces the abnormal fibrobalsts and epidermal cells to the top which cause a transient result as such. With 10 mgs, it will hand around a little longer, but that is the best dose.

Tell us what happens at month 6 or 7 and I will bet it will be a new ball game with a fresh nose that is healthy.

Dr. Nase ... that is absolutely terrific to hear that the texture of my skin means the accutane is working. YOu made my day with that bit of information!

Bradley, I wont frighten people on this board with a close up of my skin texture! (the movie SAW II is more pleasant) lol My nose is very swollen. I no longer have indents where my nostrals start. Just one big swollen mass. Picture an orange peel...thats what the surface is like.... but red, not orange. My skin surface is swollen with extremely deep pores. Needless to say, its VERY attractive.

All the girls at work are jealous! .... not really.

Thanks for the encouragment lisa! have a super day all!
