    Default Hello everyone!

Hello everyone! I have been a long time rosacea sufferer and have tried many things over the years to gain control of this condition, things like IPL, meds, ect. and it has gotten a little better in the last year or so (espically after the photo facial RF treatments). I am really looking forward to chatting with you all and hopefully I will find some info in this forum that will help my condition!

    Don

Hi, Don! Welcome to the forum. We'd be interested in hearing about your photofacial RF treatments. What doctor did you go to? I've been afraid of RF machines because some people suffer from permanent waffling of the skin due to fat necrosis. Here is a typical post below concerning this subject from a plastic surgery forum. You can find other posts by Googling "IPL RF fat loss".

I have had numerous Photofacial/IPL..no RF with no side effects..they were helping my rosacea problem with the burning, redness, and broken blood vessels.
Then June 24 I go in for my maintenance treatment ..it was going to be simple..like always..but NOOOOOOOOOOOO...at the last minute the doctor I have known and trusted for 3 years informed me he was going to switch to a different machine..that I would get even better results with this machine...
FOtofacial RF!!!!!!! At the time I knew nothing of RF..I asked him about RF ..what it means, what are the potential side effects..the dangers..and he told me nothing to worry about..that the only side effects after this treatment will be mild swelling and redness like always.
Well....I should have listened to my gut that day because 6 weeks later I started seeing these shallow indentations..and some tiny tears..stretch like marks..I am waiting for my cheeks to become sunken in and hollowed out..or a cheek pad to fall. UNREAL!!!!!!! I feel so betrayed and lied to ..and of course when I call them and tell them this and ask straight out.."Is what I am experiencing called Fat Necrosis..thermage damage?) And they never answer the question straight on ..there answer always is "We've never seen That." Well..I didn't ask if you've seen it !!!!! ughhh
So now I don't know what to do ..what is there for me to do at this point.???
Any advice anyone..Anyone with similar experience?

Wow I have never heard of this happening, had I known I would have had second thoughts!! I had a total of seven treatments and all were RF, I live in WA State and the Derm. I went to is Peter cooperrider at (laser treatment centers Kirkland, WA). From what I know he is one of the best derm. on the west coat and was highly recommended by three different Derm. I went to. I know he also travel's throughout the world teaching other derms. about the latest technologys and he give's seminar's too.

He told me that he has basically every machine on the market and he highly recommended the RF machine for my situation. Towards the end of the treatments I did start to notice some improvement but not $3,500 worth!

The last visit I had with him he basically said he wasn't seeing the result's he wanted to see and that he would like to mabey try a more aggressive approach possibly laser (I have heard some real horror stories about laser no thanks!). He did put me on some anti inflamitories however the particular one I was taking at the time seem to turn my skin grey
so I immed. stopped taking it.

Over the years I have learned to eat a certain way and take certain supplement's to somewhat control flare-up's but still have to deal with it every day like everyone else in this forum. At one point it became so bad I up and quit a job that I really liked I had been there for over ten years and was making very good money, it was a very stressful position I held and would cause constant flare-up's and embarrassment, I just couldn't take it anymore!

Not too long after I quit I was introduced to a work at home type job through a family member and I gotta say it was a real blessing, I no longer work in a high stress enviroment, I work my own hours, have more time with my family and make great money, all this while helping other's!

Some day there will be a cure! 100% remission for us all, I pray for it everyday!

    Don

Here's a couple links to my derm. site, has anyone ever heard of Dr. cooperrider?

I'm on the east coast, so I haven't heard of your doctor. Be careful when a doctor starts talking about getting "more aggressive" with your treatment. That is usually when people have gotten bad side effects. On that website, the woman's butt looks better after treatment, but pictures can be faked. Mesotherapy is generally considered to be quackery. Below quote is from this website: http://www.medicinenet.com/script/ma...ticlekey=52232

Not everyone is so gung-ho on the benefits of mesotherapy. Even though it was recognized in 1987 by the French Academy of Medicine as a part of traditional medicine, there have been no proven scientific benefits or merits, says Rod Rohrich, MD, president-elect of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and chairman of plastic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. "This borders on medical experimentation," he says. "Injecting unknown substances into someone with multiple needle sticks is almost unconscionable." ......That's what Leroy Young, MD, says as well. To Young, chairman of the nonsurgical procedures committee for the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, mesotherapy is nothing more than "quackery."

I am not calling your doctor a quack or saying you should quit going to him. Just research the machines and doctors in your area a little more so you'll stay safe.

LOL I didn't even see the pic of the ladies butt! I just googled his name and then copied the link. Just curious, what treatments have you done and did you have any luck? You know the thing that really stumps me is that my mom,dad and brother have perfect skin, they can exercise, lay in the sun all day, drink ect. if I so much as even think of doing one of those things my face will explode Man talk about unfair!
