Default Clarithromycin has caused some horrible side effects.. help!

I've stopped taking Clarithromycin because I have Red Blood spots and veins appearing all over my body!!!!!?!!!!!

My feet were once clear skinned, now they are covered (I mean covered) in little red spots/dots under the skin. I have these all over my back, arms, legs. Thankfully they have not traveled up to my head. They look awful

Has anyone else had these after taking Clarithromycin post IPL ?. I'm worried that these won't go, please Dr Nase or someone can you please tell me these will go down. Or shed some light on this horrible transformation. I have stopped taking the Clarithromycin.

What does it actually do ? And why would it cause blood spots just under the skin ?

    Thank you.

    Spence

    Hi fanta

Ohh, and how do you come to this conclusion mate ? Although, something is definatly not right. I have stopped them, I'm more concered about when these ugly spots are going to go.

Will they flush out of my system ?

    Thanks

    Are they like angiomas?

I get those, but never taken clarithromycin. Had to have one removed from my leg, because it got to the size of a large pea. Most ot the ones that I have are on my hands and arms. Small enough they kind of looke like freakles.

    Hey there Kelli,

    Don't think they are angiomas - http://www.aocd.org/skin/dermatologi.../angiomas.html

From what I can gather from that site anyway. My little dots do not protrude from the skin. They are under the skin. But they look nasty I have never seen them before, so I don't know what to look for. I Think it's like what fanta said - my liver did not like them. Damn liver !!

    Anyways, thx for answering.

    Take care

Hmm... I'd keep an eye on them. If they don't fade, then I'd see a Dr. about them.

    Good luck!

    Ta,

They wanna fade !. Dealing with Rosacea is hard enough, let along being permanently marked by taking meds that my derm said I should not bother with. I swear I could tell an underling chuckle in his email when I told him.

If something is wrong with your liver I would worry more about that cause that could imply you could not drink ever again

Actually Ive experienced the same symptom, bloodred marks on my shoulder while on erythromycin, have no idea why?

I had a few beers before I went for my IPL on Friday so I know I can drink
Also, I've recently had a load of blood tests done. I'm sure if there was something wrong it would have shown up. Maybe I'm just allergic to one of the ingredients in clarithromycin...

I just got an email back from Dr P, he said I've nothing to worry about, and I'll be surprised how quickly these numerous spots clear up.

    I hope so !!
