    Default exersice with rosacea

Just a general question about exersice and it's impact on the facial blood vessels. I know that heat from exersice can cause a flush, but I am curious as to how much damage is done when lifting weights? I'm finishing my IPL treatments and I have gotten good results so far, and I would like to return to weight training. Anybody have a general idea of how damaging strenuous lifting is to rosacea? I wonder what os worse: weight lifting or cardio?

In my experience the worst thing are those last 2 or 3 reps that really rip. I know it's not ideal, but personally I think the best way to train in order to not aggravate your rosacea as much is to go with low weights and high reps. It's those last couple of reps on high weights which are really the killer I find. I struggle with cradio. Really gets my colour up.
Double negatives are a big no-no.

Weight training and the subsequent heat from it is the main cause of redness on my face.
So what i do is fill 2 water bottles up 1/4 full and put them in the freezer overnight. Then when i go to the gym i fill the rest up with water. This gives u cold water which will lasts me over an hour.
After every set i wet my face and my head, and hair, it cools me down so much, and i drink lots of cold water to cool me down internally too.
Keeping my face cool is the best thing to stop redness for me, and when i finish my face is pale, and maybe just a light shade of pink in the worst spots.
Then on the drive home i put my AC on or just hav the windows down if its cold outside, and this gets rid of your bodys extra heat, coz my face can still go red an hour after training if i havent fully cooled down.

Also try an limit ur actual workout time, i find quicker workouts are still very effective, plus they help the redness from setting in.

Yeh, i would like to know this. Weight training does no good for the initial redness, but does it do long term damage to the blood vessels and cause permanent damage ?

Do you weight training or more cardio stuff? My concern with weight training is not the heat that my body generates (the weight room in my gym is actually very cold), but the overall strain you put on the vessels. What type of weight training do you do? Are you getting in hour long weight lifting sessions? I'll definatly have to try using the cold water once I finish my IPL';s and get back to the gym.

Perhaps it is really just the body heat that causes the flushing, and maybe the short spike in pressure during the last few reps dosn't cause much damage?

My training was mainly based around weights. I'm quite skinny, so to put on any muscle mass I have to high-Weight/Low Reps. So yeh, my concern is based around the damage or strain put on the vessels.

I've got another 9 weeks of IPL, so I can't train till then. Thats a killer.

Yeh i only weight train. Yeh it seems that the heat your body generates is the big problem, also because it takes a long time for it to disipate. Thats why i continue to cool my face down at least half an hour or more after i train to make sure i dont flair up.
Having a cool weight room is a big advantage, and a fan blowing on you is even better. Unfortunatefly my gym has neither really, so i have to make the most of cold water. They have a really cold bubbler too which is handy.

Also now when i feel my face begin to start straining when on my final reps with big weights, i try to finish it up quickly so i dont prolong the blood rushing to my face...

Hello. Here are some tips I've used to decrease the intensity of my exercise-related flushing. They worked very well for me

What is the sun block for? I don't intend to lift weights in the sun.

Zinc oxide also helps decrease( or maintain) your skin's temperature.
