Hello there! What do you have to lose if you ask him? Also, ask him about the Natragel cooling mask, that should be of great help.
Good luck with your treatment,
Adrian
Hi
You really should ask him about Clarithromycin, I'm planning on asking him for my next treatment. Not really sure if you get it from him or your "own" doctor.
Please keep us updated on your treatment.
Regards
Chris
Hi all,
Yeah, will ask him if he recommends I take it....
Will let you know...

Spence...
Hi all,
I would definitely ask for Clarithromycin. Taken after IPL it can prevent angiogenesis. I have noticed a marked improvement since taking it, especially with regards to what I have mentioned and it also generally helps reduce inflammation a great deal.
I live in Australia and although my IPL doc prescribes it, my primary care physician has as well. I guess if you have a good rapport with a doctor and they have an understanding of your condition, then most doctors of any speciality would be able to help you out........at least in Australia that is.

Hi guys !!
Ive just had the IPL session with Dr P. This is for a mild case of Rosacea... I flush a little but hardly ever recently, but have the perm butterfly red effect going on....
I'm not sure it went well,.. He used a machine called "Starburst" or something like that - a photo facial machine.... as he said we will try to deal with the intial redness that can be seen first as flushing does not seem a problem.... It bloody hurt !! though.. My skin is not burning now, it did at the time.... But it just seems lumpy/matty now... Did anyone else get this ?
I'm hoping this will go down... But i have a few questions...
1) When can I start applying creams to my face?
2) When should I notice an improvment in my perm redness ?
3) Will the lumpy and mattyness go down ?
Thanks for the input.
Concerned Spence !
Answer my own questions
1) Yes, now.
2) Yes I can see a definate reduction in the perm redness.
3) Yes they went after a nights sleep.

Are there any known side effects from clarithromycin ?
Its just that Dr P did not seem so hot (or not that bothered) on giving me some... He said he does not mind if i really want some.... Its just after my first IPL treatment I have had about 9 days indoors.. Indoors meaning without FB/FF. But after my next treatment I'm only going to have 5 days then ill have to go out...
This means I will be flushing and blushing... So would it be best to get some off him for this time ? Its been 9 days since my first Starlux treament... I looked in the mirror today and thought "Hey, i look pale"![]()
But this is of course before washing my face... Plus I have not FB/FF in weeks, as mentioned been indoors...
So any info on the side effects of clarithromycin would be great, I dont want to take something that will make any of Rosacea smyptoms progress.... I can find some information on clarithromycin, but its beyound me ?!?!
Thanks loads..
Spence
Hello Spencer,
The following side effects from Clarithromycin, are stated on the pharmaceutical information provided with this drug. Don't be alarmed however as you may not experience any of the following.
Tell your doctor if you experience the following:
- stomach cramps and pains
- nausea, vomitting and severe diarrhoea
- oral thrush or vaginal thrush
- change in taste sensation
- headache
Tell your doctor if you experience any of the following as you may need urgent medical care:
- yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice)
- feeling generally unwell and poor appetite
- hearing disturbances
- chest pain
- dizziness, confusion, hallucinations, convulsions
- any type of skin rash, hives, itching
- severe diarrhoea especially if bloody
- severe upper stomach pain with nausea and vomitting (pancreatitis)
Stop taking Clarithromycin immediately and notify your doctor or go to casuality or emergency if you experience the following:
- swelling to the lips, mouth, throat or neck which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing or sudden collapse.
I have been on Clarithromycin for several months, pulse dosing after IPL and I have not experienced any of the above. If anything my rosacea is much better for it but we are all different. Listen to your body.
Hope this helps.

Thx very much indeed Mermaid !
I'll think i'll give it a try... If you don't mind me asking, what does/is Clarithromycin actually used/for ?
What does it actually do for you ?
I'm at a mild stage one of Rosecea, even less perm red now after one treatment. And he is using the Starlux machine (a photofacial machine I think), so would Clarithromycin still be recommended for a very mild case....
Sorry for all the questions here![]()
Thanks loads.
Have a great day !
Spence.
EDIT:
Right so Clarithromycin will stop the formation of new blood vessels, the ones that were nuked in the IPL sessions... So, If im likely to be blushing alot more than after my first IPL it would definatly be a good idea to get some...
