Default Inflammation = Enlarged Pores or Visa Versa?

Interesting thing that I noticed about my face is that only the places where my pores are enlarged(really visible upclose), redness exists. If you look closely it resemples a grid.

Another point to make is that all p and p and acne exist where these large pores do not.

My question is - does inflammation that comes with Rosacea cause the pores to expand or does inflammation exist normally where pores are larger (e.g. on the nose)

Similarly, does Accutane work to shrink the pores which takes out the inflammation or does it reduce the imflammation allowing the pores to reduce to normal size?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

I wonder if the inflammation just makes the pores more visible. I've found that after the IPL treatments the treated area looks quite porous, but as the redness dies away the pores go back to looking normal, which for me is not very noticeable. I also find that after a prolonged flush which thankfully I haven't experienced for a couple weeks now, my face looks the same until the flush dies away. If that's the case then treating the redness should also make the pores less visible. I could be totally off the mark though.

I talked to a technician that believed that accutane can actually dry out the skin and cause open pores. But she was probably talking about high-dose accutane so I wouldn't worry too much about that though.

Hmm, maybe then inflammation causes the enlarged pores.

    Hey Fut,

The number one theory right now is that rosacea inflammation causes mild fibrosis of the pores -- causing them to dilate and stay fixed.

I dont know how to say this so I will just say it -- after 5 or 6 IPLs some faces are dramatically changed permanently -- almost no more pores; in other cases, after 15 treatments, there is no change. No idea on why. Not even a guess. In fact, I will just take my fist moment of silence in many years. Would everyone please join me. Silence for one minute. Bob Bear in the back....be quiet.
