Default blood vessel removal on eye surface

    Dr. Nase,

On your website you mentioned that with the new micro-lasers, a trained specialist could remove blood vessels from the eye surface. I have a severe case of ocular rosacea (horrendous webs of blood vessels) and am looking for any leads to specialists that perform this. I'm currently going through IPL treatments and am very happy about the results so far. Unfortunately it hasn't calmed down my ocular symptoms. If anything it seems as if they're worse - maybe my body is producing a lot more VEGF and creating new vessels on my eyes (if you've seen War of the Worlds, my eye surface looks like the alien terraforming). It's so incredibly depressing to see the deterioration of my eyes. I could almost deal with the 24/7 burning; I just want my eyes to look normal again.

Any references or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,

I am waiting for a call back from a Lumenis Physician (Eye Specialist who knows these new microlasers inside and out) to contact me so we can discuss this very novel approach. Will keep everyone up to date on this subject as things unfold.

    Dr. Nase,

Thanks so much for your concern. I'm anxiously awaiting what the specialist has to say.

Yeah, me too. That's my number one priority - my eyes. I'd even be willing to travel to the US to get them treated.

I am stil waiting. He is the only Lumenis eye specialist, so I am sure he is extremely busy, but the Lumenis staff says he is incredibly bright and would know the answer, and possibly even start experimenting with it himself.

This would be a large step forward in ocular rosacea treatment -- we dont need the red eyes -- those vessels can be permanetly removed with no regrowth. No, I just woke up an look hungover look.

    Dr. Nase,

Thanks so much for keeping this topic alive. I don't really want to be a human ginuea-pig for this treatment, but I'd be willing to travel anywhere, anytime he feels ready to do the procedures with confidence. My eyes are my worst flush zones (eyelids and eye surface). I'm starting to look like the woman in your book with bad ocular rosacea.

Is it possible that my eyes could be getting worse since starting IPL...could it be due to having a lot of VEGF in my system after the treatments and it finds a path of least resistance in my eyes??

One last comment: When I'm on optical steriods, my eyes look and feel great (almost normal). I'm not a steriod responder in regards to high IOP (so I'm not overly concerned about glaucoma), but I've wondered if the steriod use could thin my sclera, making the vessels more present and sensitive. BTW, how would you rate Lotemax as a steriod (I've been pulse dosing with it).

Thanks again for the time you take out of your day to give us information and support.

Default blood vessels on surface of eye

I also have blood vessels on the survace of my eye. Dr. Nase mentioned that the Novus Varia machine from Lumenis could be used to destroy them. Has anyone been able to confirm this or does anyone know a Dr. with this machine who is willing to use it for this purpose.

    Airbaker or Dr. Nase,

I also have severe ocular rosacea and am very anxious to learn about this lumenis eye specialist that can treat this very painful and terrible aspect of rosacea.
Do you know the name/location of this specialist and how safe and common this procedure is? Thanks. It means a lot. -Chris

I didn't have too much of a problem with my eye veins until I had IPL. Now I have a severe case. Does that mean it's permanent and I'll have to have a laser destroy them???
