Hello Everyone,
I was looking for some good sunblock suggestions (other than Vanicream or Zinco - as these tend to irritate my skin). Has anyone tried Skinceuticals physical block, Obagi SPF 35 or Rosaceacare?
Thank you,
Gina

Hi Gina,
I haven't had much luck with the safer mineral sunscreens like Zinco cuz they cause me to break out. When I try to wear them it feels like my skin can't breathe and then the papules and pustules ensue. This summer I've been wearing an adjustable face visor that pulls down over my face and blocks 99% of the sun's UV rays. So far so good. It works especially well when I'm in my car -- it's the next best thing to tinted windshields (which unfortunately I can't afford to have done). I got my visor at www.facevisor.com. Hope this info helps. CAM
I use either the Clinque Super City Sunblock (usuallyin the winter -SPF 25) or the Fallene COTZ (contains only titanium & zinc) - and I really like the COTZ - excellent sunscreen, soaks in pretty much transparent and feels good on the skin. I order it online at www.fallene.com.

Hi Gina,
Vanicream and zinco irritated my skin too (as did many others). Swiss American Elta sunscreen has been working for me for almost a year. I buy it at dermatologistrx.com.

P.S.
I buy the Elta Shield SPF 45 Oil free. Love it.
Hello everyone,
I use md formulations sun total protector spf 30. It feels good on the skin. You can get it white or colored.

It's a little bit shiny on my skin but it doesn't irritate or break me out. I don't use it every day for minimal exposure but I do use it when I know I'll be in the sun for awhile. Great stuff.Originally Posted by celticgirlie
I tried vanicream sunscreen too. I could not use it. I found it to be extremely irritating. I use a sunscreen called Solbar PF 50. This is the only sunscreen that I can use.
Thank you all very much for your suggestions.
I've tried:
1. Vanicream - whitish, too thick, not spreadable, drying but cheap
2. Zinco (tinted & untinted) - odd color, thick, drying
3. Clinique City Block SPF15 - ashy color, bit drying
4. Cetaphil SPF15 - irritating
5. Peter Thomas Roth SPF20 - VERY thick, not spreadable & quite drying on applicattion but okay afterward, odd color
I've tried lots of suncreen & the above are always being talked about by rosaceans. However, I dont like any of them.
I'm using Skinceuticals Daily Defense SPF20 which I can recommend. It's moisturing yet non greasy, non-tinted, non-irritating (it compose of 5% Z-Cote & 5% Octinoxate in encapsulated form), spreadable and can be easily washed off. If you not particularly reactive to the UVB blocker, worth a try.
