Default Grant received for treatment of rosacea

    Group,

I cannot tell you much due to disclosure laws, but I received an excellent grant on topical dapsone for rosacea papules, pustules, redness AND concomittant treatment of acne and pore problems such as folliculitis and keratin plugs.

Excellent for rosacea especially that they are specifically making a rosacea friendly cream with a 3% to 5% dapsone concentration.

This may also be the first true treatment that rosacea sufferers with coexisting acne or pore problems can safely use. We shall see, but all evidence points to yes.

Default I just wanted to take a moment...

to tell you how much these posts of hope and progress mean to me. I'm sure I'm not the only one. No matter how helpful your other posts are to me (and they certainly have been), these are the ones that keep me going emotionally. I know you push the envelope of what you can get away with saying about these studies you review and I wanted to tell you how very much I appreciate it. I only wish we could do the same for you. All I have to offer is my heartfelt wish for your continued recovery and my eternal gratitude and support.

    Thank you,
    Rowan

    Nona,

KP is primarily an adverse immune reaction to built up keratin and substances it releases. Similar to milia in certain aspects. The problem is that the plugs are often closed under the skin, so I honestly dont know how effective the dapsone would be in penetrating through thick skin first.

I have successfully gotten rid of the KP on my arms using T-gel and KP soap with 3% sal acid.

    Hi Sally,

That usually is a great combo, especially for the arms. The MD Formulations sensitive skin Glycolic acid also does a wonderful job.

The problem the patients tell me (and I am by no means any expert on kp) but that when it runs up into their beard or cheek area, they have to put those pore opening products away. Can you use those combos on your face? Just doing a little research. Thanks.

I wouldn't use it on my face, although i only have KP on my upper arms so i wouldn't need to. however it seems to work by slowly sloughing off the skin and i think it would be far too harsh for the face.

I joined the KP message board and there was quite a bit of useful info on there about what people were putting on their face. Only thing is they use a join up fee to put a stop to the trolls they had messing up their former board, so you can't view the threads unless yr a member.

What does KP look like? I have little red bumps on my tricepts. But the redness isn't as bad as the photos I see what I do a Yahoo image search on KP.

    Thanks!
