I've been doing a little research on coconut oil because I wondered why it was effective in treating rosacea, and learned that it is very high in salicylates. For most people this probably isn't a problem, but I'm allergic to aspirin so it concerns me.
I haven't had an allergic reaction to the coconut oil (I've been applying it to my skin, not eating it) but I worry that it might eventually cause problems. On the other hand olive oil is also very high in salicylates and I've been eating that for years without any problem. I might be worrying about nothing, but I thought I'd share the information as it might be useful to some on the forum.
