metrogel application

Hi all, only a new rosacea sufferer and I forgot to ask the derm about applying metrogel. I am a male and never have been much of a moisturiser type of person, but want to start moisturising my face. Do I apply metrogel first on my face and then put moisturiser over the top? I am guessing that is the logical approach, but just making sure.

Also, while i am at it, when apply metrogel, do i only rub lightly over the affected areas or do i have to try to rub it in? Thought that rubbing it in may flame my face.

I think most people apply their topical first and then after 10 minutes or so put on the moisturizer. I, however, prefer to do it the other way. After washing, while my skin is still a bit wet, I apply my moisturizer. I then wait about 10 minutes and apply my topical. Try both ways and see what works best for you.
