Hi everyone!
As I'm sure you can see, I'm new here. I am hoping someone might be able to offer their insight?
My story:
I'm in my late 20s.
I don't remember exactly, but I believe I started to get acne around 8 or 9. I remember it being a problem then.
I started seeing a dermatologist, probably around age 12 or 13?
I'm not sure when my skin started looking the way it does now, but I remember having a prominent broken capillary around the same age. It has since worked its way out.
But the dermatologist did tell me I have rosacea in addition to my acne. No blood tests or scrapes, just visual diagnosis.
I tried everything from OTC and prescription washes, gels, creams, pills (including Accutane).
I feel like I've been battling skin issues forever.
I haven't been to a dermatologist in a while for several reasons. I realize that's the best route for a medical diagnosis/treatment. :/
I've recently started a more natural approach to my health care.
I started seeing a naturopath. After discussions and small tests concerning symptoms (not necessarily skin related), she immediately thought I had something going on GI-wise. She firmly believes I'm gluten sensitive, but I've yet to start the elimination diet. We did some blood tests. I'm on the border of hypothyroidism, and deficient in several key vitamins.
I'm hoping a combination of diet changes and the vitamins I'm taking will help with my skin, but I'd like to explore additional treatment options as well.
I know that a firm diagnosis isn't going to happen via the internet, but I'd love to get the OPINIONof a few people around here just to help with my research and experiments. Does this appear to be rosacea?
Pictures attached.
Also - my skin does not really itch, burn or hurt in any way, just looks cosmetically bad.
It's also pretty oily, only a little dry in a few areas. Heat may exasperate redness, but I don't really have any "triggers." Seems to stay the same always.
These don't sound like many of the stories I've read and descriptions I've seen.
