Default Having Nd:yag with Dr Crouch- How long usually between treatments

    Hi everyone,

I'm having Nd:yag laser treatment with Dr Crouch for flushing and stinging/ tingling sensations that I get in my face through quite a few triggers. Having had my first session in the middle of July, Dr Crouch recommended me to book my next sessions in four months after the first.

Is this the normal amount of time between different sessions? I am worried as my flushing gets MUCH worse in the colder months and it's not long until it will start to get much colder. (I live in the UK by the way).

Also I'd like to know about other peoples experience with the Nd:yag laser, especially if they have had or are having treatment with Dr Crouch in Swindon.

Thank you for reading, and I would be so pleased if I could get some answers from people here.

    Ben.

My own experience with the nd:yag was not good. I also know that some rosacea laser doctors with a lot of experience dropped the nd:yag because they found it caused more side effects (including the risk of more flushing/blood vessel growth as well as worse side effects) than either Vbeam or IPL. Dr Crouch is obviously experienced, but some other doctors dispute the effectiveness and cost/benefit analysis of using the yag on rosacea.

    Hi Ben1992,

I have had two ND:Yag laser treatments with Dr Crouch and I must admit that it has little or no effect on my flushing long term. I went for my first treatment at the beginning of this year in about March, this was the very first laser treatment I had ever had so I was very nervous. By the time I reached Dr Crouch's clinic in Swindon I was quite badly flushed from stress/anxiety and sun exposure whilst driving. The treatment appeared to be very successful in the first few weeks following this initial treatment, I found myself almost cured of my Rosacea flushing. However the weeks following this I started to notice my flushing slipping back to its old ways and gradually with time I believe my flushing was back to square one. However I booked a further appointment to receive an ND:Yag laser treatment with Dr Crouch, which I received in about July. On this occasion I arrived at the clinic and was not flushed as it was a very dull day and I sort of knew what to expect. I received the treatment successfully and experienced relief from flushing for about a week. However I now feel that my flushing has returned to its full capacity. Needless to say I won't be going back for more laser treatment, I am instead going down the medication route to try and control my flushing. However don't be dissuaded from trying the ND:Yag laser treatment as everyone reacts differently and hopefully you may be a lucky one that responds well.

How did your first experience with the ND:Yag go?

There is a specific amount of time that you are required to leave in between treatments to ensure your skin has recovered etc. I think it was about 2 months minimum but I could be wrong. I wouldn't worry too much about the length of time because Dr Crouch claims that the effects of the laser of permanent and suggests your threshold for flushing is reduced for life every time you get a ND:Yag laser treatment.

Sorry the post is so long but hopefully I have answered your questions.

Let me know if there is anything else.

    Thanks

Thank you for your experience rosaceaclearwannabe.

I only had the yag treatment done 3 and a half weeks ago for my flushing.

Even when not flushing visibly my cheeks always feels flushy so to speak (before treatment and still now). I always have tingling, stinging cheeks with a mild burn even when not visibly red. I REALLY hope the yag can get rid of this part of it also for me. Now with the winter coming up (which is always when my face is at it's worst) I am feeling nervous and apprehensive which is the reason I wanted to get the second treatment sooner than four months.

It's strange with my flushing, I have just been on holiday to Spain where the weather was averaging 37 degrees everyday. Not once did I have a flush on holiday, I never do in warm whether. But I would have a HUGE flush in a central heated room, it very much confuses me. I flush when I get into my car in winter, with no heating on in the car my face will absolutely throb and I'll have big red circles on my cheeks that hurt a lot. It seems to be going from different temps, no matter how small and 'dry air' (if that makes sense) are my main triggers.

Is there anyone with positive experiences from the yag who have the same sort of flushing as I do?

    I'm getting worried now

Please let me know any info,

    Ben.

    Hi Ben1992,

I too am dreading the winter with its harsh winds and harsh temperatures! A lot of Rosacea sufferers report flushing from changes in temperature, for example yesterday I went on a bike ride for 2 hours, whilst wearing sun cream and whilst the weather was fine (I live in the UK - we had a sunny day for once!) and I flushed after doing this activity even though it wasn't strenuous exercise etc.

I found this booklet quite eye opening http://www.ausci.com/rosacea.htm, it talks about the effects temperatures have on Rosacea.

Hope that helps, don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions.

    Hi guys,

Had a major flushy day today, and I feel as if I could burst into tears right now, my cheeks are really throbbing

Please, if anybody has had Nd:yag laser for flushing, with Dr Crouch or not, I really need to hear your experiences with this treatment.

    Anybody?

    Thanks again,

    Ben.

    Hi Ben

In my experience it is usual to expect worse flushing in the following month or so after Nd: yag treatments. I have been on maintenance treatments with this type of laser for the last few years with Dr Crouch and have achieved a good reduction in flushing and all the associated stinging and sensitivity. Strangely, Dr Crouch mentioned at my last visit that the more flushy you are after the treatment generally means better long term results! So try not to be too downhearted and check out my previous posts which show that this laser and Dr Crouch's protocol have been by far the best option for me - much better than IPL.

I know it's tough but try to stay positive!!

    Hi everyone,

    Hmmmmmmmmmmm.... Where to start?

On Tuesday it will be 5 weeks since I would have had the Nd:Yag treatment. For the last week my skin has been CONSTANTLY stinging, burning, irritated and very sore. I have had a constant mild flush on my cheeks the last week. I do not know why things would of been ok for the first 3/4 weeks but now my face is in a LOT of discomfort.

Dr Crouch's protocol says that usually patients experience increased symptoms for 2-4 weeks after laser and then by week six goes below baseline. Well I was fine until week 4 and then all hell has broken loose! What could of caused this to happen? I am still keeping my fingers crossed that things will soon die down, and my flushing will be less than before I had the laser. I have a lot of trust in Dr Crouch to provide good treatment, so I have no concerns on that front.

Questions that I need answering PLEASE!!!???
Come on guys.... I know there are more people out there who have tried yag, so for people that have had the treatment, how long did you get increased sensitivity for? How many treatments did it take to notice the yag was seriously reducing the flushing/ burning etc? How long between treatments?

Again, I'd be SO grateful to anyone who may be able to provide me some answers!

    Take Care!

    Ben1992.
