    Default Kale eating experiment

    Hi All:
One day I went to the health food store and picked up a bunch of kale. I cut it up and cooked half the bunch in the microwave. The next day I looked in the mirror and my skin looked awesome. I did a little research and found that kale is very high in Vitamin K-which has been shown to be very good for the lymphatic system. It has also been shown to block the action of inflammatory cytokines, which have been implicated in rosacea. Anyway I am now doing an experiment of eating kale everyday for several days in a row and see what happens. I have to stop taking my quercetin/bromelain supplements while doing this as it thins the blood. People on blood thinners shouldn't try this.
    Regards

Hi Kathee, thanks for sharing that info. I happen to love kale but rarely have it so you have inspired me to start preparing it again. It is delicious steamed with other veggies including spinach.

    Hello Kathee,

Interesting...........I have a 'resting' hyperthyroid issue and kale is recommended as it slows the metabolism down.

Make sense then, that it would help with flushing!

I too will give this a go!

    Thanks

    Hi Melissa:
I ate kale yesterday and today my skin is just so so. Ate it again today so I'll tell you what happens. The good news is that it is very healthy...someone said it is a "superfood." It has also been shown to reduce the risk of a variety of cancers, such as lymphoma.

Hi Kathee, I agree, I don't think you can go wrong eating kale as it is so healthy for you. And yummy! Hope it continues to help your symptoms though- (an off day here and there can happen no matter what).

Kale is so good for you it's considered a "super food". My wife makes kale chips which are really good.

    Ingredients
1 head kale, washed and thoroughly dried
    2 tablespoons olive oil
    Sea salt, for sprinkling

    Directions

Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F.

Remove the ribs from the kale and cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces. Lay on a baking sheet and toss with the olive oil and salt. Bake until crisp, turning the leaves halfway through, about 20 minutes. Serve as finger food

    Enjoy,
    Dave

I haven't had spinach since I notices its a trigger.

If kale works without being a trigger that be great!
