    Angry Zoloft & Flushing?

My doctor is thinking of putting me on zoloft because of all the stress that the flushing has caused me. It has now made me very depressed, anxious, and also mild to moderate social phobia. I am so tired and fed up and at wit's end. The flushing has impacted every part of my life and it is truly very difficult to cope for me. My biggest fear now is whether Zoloft will increase my flushing or help. I am so nervous about it making things even worse. Does anyone else have any experience with zoloft and whether it helped or aggravated their flushing?

Thanks... In dire straits here and would appreciate any help.

    Hi TxnQT,

Sorry to see that you feel so bad.I can very well relate to you feelings. I have never taken Zoloft (a SSRI) but some people on the forum had their flushing much decreased with such drugs. Have you ever tried anti-flushing medications like clonidine, moxonidine or beta-blockers ? You could get much relief with those. I have been taking clonidine for now a year and it has really helped me with flushing (though not so uch any more with nose flushing). Type "clonidine" , "beta-blockers" in the search area up the page on the right and you'll find a lot to read about them.
    Best,
    Marie

Thanks so much for your concern. I am already on a clonidine patch of 0.3 mg/day, which is an extremely high dosage. Sometimes I still flush through that and have to take extra oral doses. It is so depressing and led me to a state of anxiety, fear and depression where I need zoloft and clonazepam. That's why I'm just trying to figure out if zoloft will make flushing or acne worse, because that would just make life more hellish. I'm willing to take it to level me out but not if it causes skin side effects...

    Thanks.

    Default anti depressant

    hi txnqt
I can also relate to how you feel and I'm so sorry you're suffering. Before Rosacea I barely took an aspirin. I don't know about Zoloft, but when I was flushing 24/7 I was depressed and wellbutrin helped and did not increase my flushing. However It did not help with the constant anxiety which literally had me walking around in circles. I fought it, but finally started taking anti- anxiety medication- xanax. As my condition has improved I have reduced or eliminated medications.
