    Default Food allergies/intolerances

Has anyone found that they really don't have rosacea and just suffer from food allergies/intolerances? My skin looks the best when I avoid sugar and grains and the foods that my ELISA test said I am intolerant to.

I have always held the opinion that rosacea is a symptom, not a disease. I believe that, just as pain is a symptom of something wrong in the body, rosacea is a symptom of something gone wrong, whether that is too much inflammation from eating toxic foods or food intolerances, vitamin/mineral deficiencies, stress overload, gut dysbiosis or damage or a myriad of other theories. I believe that rosacea is directly related to gut health- what we eat, how we digest and frequency of elimination. Also the status of the microorganism population of the gut.

I believe that if we can do our best to make sure these four elements are the healthiest we can make them for our own unique bodies, then the vast majority of rosacea symptoms will improve or clear up altogether.

Don't treat rosacea as the disease, look for the cause behind it. And, just as healing will relieve pain, healing of your gut health will relieve rosacea.
Current skincare regime for rosacea subtypes I, II and IV started March, 2012:

*Strict diet. No dairy, wheat, sugar, nuts/seeds, legumes. Only meat, 'safe starches', and low-phenol starchy/unstarchy fruits and veggies and water with ghee, lard and duck fat as cooking aids and sources of fat. Also avoiding food intolerances.
Supplementing with raw food multivitamin, liquid zinc sulfate with copper, epsom salt baths (magnesium sulfate), calcium and vitamin C. Lots of water!

yes i agree with Christine and the fact that food intollerances and stressors are the trigger. i have gone almost 100% paleo as far as diet, it helps, but i do still have some permanent redness that i cant seem to get rid of. not sure what i can do there. Ive been reading a book: Primal Body Primal Mind and its an eye opener as far as our diet in general. i will email it to you if you are interested.

    Hi Christine,

That makes a lot of sense- I agree with you on all of it. I have had a lot of stress in my life especially in the last couple of years so I am sure that contributed... I've really been overloaded. Also with he food, I wasn't always eating the healthiest and also had some food intolerances that I didn't know about. I was eating garlic and beef a lot and it turns out that I am intolerant to them! HA!

I hope that you are still doing well and are getting excited for your upcoming wedding. Thanks for the post!

    Hi rcb67-
Thanks for your message. I agree with what Christine said too and that food intolerances really put stress on the body. That's great that you are doing well on the paleo diet, I am semi-paleo too. That would be great if you could send me the book, thank you.

I hope you can figure something out for your perm redness-- being off sugar sure seems to help me! I am glad you are doing better.

    Thanks!
