I'm due to go back to my doctor next week, I might ask about Bisoprolol if you've had great success with it. Is that 2.5mg once a day? As id prefer that to Propranolol 3 times a day, as I often forget to take pills with me when I'm away from home.

Had my Pulse Dyed Laser last Friday, skin was REALLY swollen and bruised but slowly coming down each day. Aloe Vera straight out the fridge has been a blessing. Good luck with your IPL :-)

Glad you are recovering from pdl. I took 2.5mg once a day for the first week now taking two 2.5mg tablets together in the morning. I've been on mirtazipine (remeron) for a few months now as well. Still have not had a proper flush since beginning bisoprolol. I had a high pulse rate which has reduced with the beta blocker, could be why it's worked so well for me

My doctor gave me a new beta blocker (I forget the name?) which is a 80mg slow release capsule. I think it is working to an extent for my rosacea - although not brilliantly. However I feel ive been getting some negative side effects - tired all the time, no energy, spaced out feeling.

I came off them the other day but then felt my flushing came back with a vengeance.

    Going back to docs tomorrow

not sure how long you were on the other beta blocker for but i think the tired spaced out feeling is fairly common in the beginning, it passed for me after about 2 weeks. hope the doctors goes well!

Thanks Luci, it's probably been about 2 weeks tbh. I'll keep that in mind when I go to see the doctor :-)

I'm finding taking 40mg propranolol 3 times a day is helping my flushing /blushing. It's by no means a cure but it seems to take more to make me blush whilst on this drug and if I do flush/blush it doesn't seem to last as long.

    Anyone else had similar results?

I have always considered myself a fairly confident person, but my uncontrallable flushing is totally ruining any self esteem I do have and totally changes my mental state. It seems to take less and less to make me flush but emotional flushing is a big thing and I also feel my face is permanently hot as if my body is preparing for a flush at any moment.

I flush when I'm embarrassed sure, but I also flush if I'm stressed, annoyed or upset - giving the impression I'm embarrassed a lot of the time. If I flush, I go into my shell and feel I want the ground to swallow me up. I now avoid situations/circumstances which I think might cause me to flush, but I feel this is making me a shy quiet individual and fairly unhappy

I even find, if I bend over for the shortest time i.e. to tie my shoelaces I will have a big red face. Also going from hot to cold or cold to hot room temperatures. This whole Rosacea thing makes me feel a bit of a freak and I don't want to obsess about it all the time, I feel it is ruining my life
This is definitely one of the more difficult aspects of rosacea to deal with. When I feel a flush coming on I try to remain calm and collected and just deal with it as it happens. I will myself not to get upset and not to let it affect me worse than the actual flush. Do not let rosacea change who you are as a person. It is just noise and don't let it be the boss of you.

As for when you are bending down and flushing that happens to many of us. A great trick is to bend your head back and that might actually help the flush subside. I wish I could remember who gave me that piece of advice a few years ago because it really works and I thank you! I cannot remember though so please if you are reading this thank you very much and apologies for not remembering who you are.

Another trick I have to help ward off flushes is to carry a fan with me. I don't care what other people think and truthfully now that it is summer in NYC no one gives it a second glance at all. As soon as I feel my face getting warm I take my fan out and circulate the air around my face and it helps. And the whole going from cold to warm or vice versa is a trigger for many of us. You are not a freak and please do not let it affect your whole life. You can deal with it and come out strong and happy. Take it one day at a time, deal with the symptoms as they happen the best way you can and keep a positive and determined mindset. The meds may help but you also need to keep a positive frame of mind and not let setbacks make you feel defeated. You can do it!

Lucy, I'm so glad the meds are helping you. Best wishes for continued success!

    Melissa
