    Default Small blisters underneath eyelid

Okay, the source of my eyelid pain seems to be a very small white blister underneath the top eyelid, close to where the lid meets the eye. I wish I could upload a pic but it won't come out. So far I have come up with "meibomian gland dysfunction" and blepharitis, but I don't have crusts and it really just looks like the one blister. I made an appointment with a local opthalmologist because my derm is away this week (of course).

The problem is, I have so many skin allergies I don't know what to use. A lot of sites say "lid scrubs" but I don't know what the ingredients are.

Has anyone had experience with this, especially if you have skin allergies? This is new for me. The regular rosacea is bad enough--can't deal with this new horror.

Hi Vicki, I get these from time to time and have generally dry eyes. The little bumps are probably plugged up mebomian glands. If they get really backed up bacteria can infect the glands and cause styes. But this probably isn't the case with you since it's small and white.

What you can do to relieve the plug (and give dry eyes some relief) is put a warm water compress over your eyes maybe twice a day. The heat from the water liquifies the plug. I like to get a washcloth during my shower, hold it under hot water and put the washcloth up to my (closed) eyes. After a few seconds the washcloth cools off and i dunk it back under the hot water, repeating this process maybe 15 times. Really only takes a couple minutes, and I can tell a difference instantly. Maybe you can try this before lid scrubs.

Also, you might try fish oil pills. Apparently the omega-3 fatty acid increase the amount of oil produced by your meibomian glands.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks! The hot compresses definitely help. Sadly, the last time I tried fish oil it made me flush (although eating fish is OK, go figure).

    Default Hello Vicki!

I use LIDCARE wipes by Norvartis, they are pre-moistened and I am careful & manage to

use ONE for both eyes (just turn the pad over!).

    They are sooooooooo convenient!

I use a muslin cloth in dipped in quite hot water (warm is no good for me) and hold it as

near to the closed eyes as I can, once it's cooled enough I actually hold it over the

closed eyes for a minute and repeat.

I then pull the outer corner of my eyelid slightly upwards & massage my eyelid with the

other finger to express the oil.

I use the LIDCARE wipe to clean and then splash eyes with warm & then cold water!

    DONE!

My eyes were quite bad in the early days, not in look, but they felt very sore, gritty, dry

    & painful at times.

I also suffered eyelash loss............all has been fine for about 5 yrs!

You MUST continue this routine (I do it once per day) even when your eyes feel better!
