Im new to the forums and didnt know where else to turn for help / answers since dermatologists havent helped.
I dont know where to start but here goes -
Im am currently 30 year old male(symptoms started at 28 / 29), and have been to about 5-6 dermatologists in the Chicagoland area over the past year and a half. I have always had sensitive skin, but in my earlier teen years only had mild acne. I am of Irish/German/Danish decent. The first problem/symptom I noticed was having red bumps that looked like little pimples throughout my cheeks / nose area with a lot of redness.
Every dermatologist tells me something different. Ive been told its different forms of dermatitis/roseacea.
I took Oracea with metrogrl topical for about 4 months and the pimple like bumps were addressed but the redness remained. After that I went into a period of self-help looking all over the internet researching on my own. Tried everything from green tea/asprin fash washes to tea tree oil / sea buckthorn oil. I then stumpled on the subject of demodex mites could be the cause of rosacea and tried some other topical solutions.
Throughout all this treatment my symptoms appeared to be "mild" but it still was scarring my self-confidence.
My most recent symptoms were mostly mild redness, extreme dryness/raw/unhealthy feeling skin, and the occasional flare up of red pimples. I have even noticed red pustules/bumps in my scalp everywhere. So my latest visit to the derm told me I had a combo or serb dermatitis / rosacea. I was prescribed doxycycline and metrogel.
The doxycycline has helped with the red bumps on face and scalp along with the metrogel, but my most recently I have noticed my skin thickening on my nose and cheek area closer to my nose. My nose has noticeably become more swollen. This has me scared beyond belief b/c I can somewhat cope with "mild" rosacea, but I dont think Id be able to live with a swollen mangled up looking nose I see pictures of.
I will mention this-
When I was 19-20 I took accutane for 6 months and was in a lot of tanning beds because I was working as a model in downtown Chicago with Elite Model Management. From this age of 20 to 28 my skin was absolutely PERFECT so I am having a difficult time coping. I noticed people reporting having accutance induced rosacea, would this apply to me? I wouldnt think so because I went from 20 to 28 with no problems.
I mainly came here to find plan my next move. If my nose is in earlier stages of rhinoplast(we its spelled) what is my best bet? My dermatoligist said, "Oh everyones nose grows bigger with age." I want to make sure if I am developing this rhinoplast that I treat it early. I dont know anything about laser treatments, but Im guessing thats where I turn to next. Anyone know of good doctors in the midwestern USA area to seek help? This is slowly destroying my life. How will I meet a future wife with this on my face? How will I function in the work place with this on my face? I dont mean to pull the "poor me" "feel sorry for myself" card, but Im fairly new to this disease.
