Brave - - I'm becoming pretty darn close to shameless under these circumstances . I am new to posting so the pictures are in a strange order. The first picture is the second (taken on June 24), the second picture (June 24) and the last one (July 12).

How long ago were you diagnosed? How long did it take to reach it's climax? When did you notice a change? Did your doctor support your decision to not use Accutane? Ooooh, and what were your misdiagnoses?

What happened in your life prior to developing systems? I was under extreme stress, at home and at work. I have a feeling that comparing notes might be beneficial as there is such limited information regarding Rosacea Fulminans.

Also, were you able to feel it (or do you still feel it) underneath your skin before it develops? I get this incredible itch almost impossible to ignore and can see little hive-bumps every night rising up through my skin. No matter what I seem to do, it spreads.

Thank you for getting in touch with me. I really appreciate it!

This started at the end of May. I thought it was poison ivy but clearly, it is not. In the past two months, I have been on Bactrim, Cipro, Doxycyclin and now Zirthomax. I took Prednisone with the Doxycyclin but this made it worse. I have been prescribed Bactriban, Desonide and I am currently putting a BP-Clindamycin topical on my face. Right now, along with the topical, I am again on Prednisone and still taking Zirthomax. My house is soo incredibly organized and donuts taste awesome!

Why are steroids for more than a week bad? Will I flair again?

The current dermatologist really wants me on Accutane. I flip-flop with this decision. I need my social life back however, what is wrong with this society where we place so much on image that taking a drug which brings down your brain function is okay if your skin clears up? I gave up on my looks years ago. I think this is just my body's way of formalizing that reality. I just feel bad that it makes other people uncomfortable. I'm not contagious and I think the mothers of other small kids want their kids far away from the lady with the staph infection.

I have also bought the enzymes you suggested and I am doing the Dermodex compresses as well. I take a skin, hair and nail supplement and you better believe I'm on probiotics.

Still, this is not really spreading. It is so localized and odd and random.

The dermatologist says that this won't scar but I know that beneath the redness, I have icepick and boxcar scars.

My skin is random and strange. I had clear skin as a teenager and then got hit with a horrific bout of cystic acne at age 25. I took Accutane then. I had to carry a TUB of Aquaphor in my purse because my lips would bleed. My eyes were dry. My skin peeled. And while I may never know if it lead to the severity of my scars or if they were going to be that bad anyway, there is the possibility.

I would consider adding domboro soaks to help dry up the acne sores, it is very mild and antiinflamtory to boot. I would disolve the packet in water and then pat it on my face for 10 minutes, used a chamise cloth that I kept soaking and patting it helped to dry up the sores acne bumps. Have you tried just plain tetra cyclin antibiotics they stopped making them for a while.
as far as the prednisone goes taper off of that. can cause rebound problems...that I am not versed in but others are.
I am sorry that you are going thru all of this.
Have you had any of the of the pustules cultured? is this a staph infection?
    hang in there

    Thumbs down

my rosacea is starting to flare up. Just many pimples on the right side of my nose, cheek. contained in a half inch area. I started using finacea on it. hoping that they will go away and not spread, I am still using acanya all over the rest of my face this keeps me under control, I am and have been clear for a long time except for this nose for the past 2 weeks. sigh

I started using the domboro soaks on monday labor day and taking tetracyclin (that I had left over from before) Glad to have it...the sores are drying up and scabing over and healing fairly quickly....I have a habit of picking...terrible. But can't seem to just let a big white head or 5 just pop on their own....usually when I wash my face, then bled. thus the sores....(my poor nose)it is getting better already so am happy about that. Have not seen the dermatologist in months need a refill for my acanya so probably should make an appointment to go in...but then again hate to see her see my face because I have been picking, embarrassed about this fact. maybe I will just call and ask for a refill to be called in?????
