are you basically supposed to be getting a bit of the dilute liquid in your eye so it stings a tiny bit? I am a bit confused.

Hi Kally, all I do is wet my hands and then put a dot of J&J Baby Shampoo in my palm and rub my palms together to make a lather. More shampoo if needed. I scoop up the lather from my palms with opposite hand fingers and massage my eyelids, eyelashes, eyebrows.
Then I just wash my entire face with that remaining solution.
I only do it about once a month.
When I first began I did it every other day (as per eye doc).
Use a warm compress on your eyelids, too, thus: compress, suds, rinse, compress. Warm is the key, never hot.
Oh, and nothing goes into my eyes! I use Theratears eye drops and gel.

Be careful of using baby shampoo even diluted with water as some recent studies show it is not the best thing to use on your eyes. I prefer a prepackaged pre moistened lid scrub formulated specifically for the problem such as sterilid or ocusoft. And remember to gently cleanse.

pre-moistened pads sound interesting, especially for travel. Did you try them, Melissa?
