I use natural topical treatments (honey + olive oil) because they do moisturize the skin and do kill surface bacteria (two reoccurring issues with seb dermatitis). Even though, as you state (and I concur) these are only outwardly treatments the reality is that they do in fact help. The big issue though, as you suggested, is to help the inside. Problem is... I got no idea how to fix it from the inside! I wish my body could send me a postcard with what it needs.

I will look into your MSM+silica+biotin recommendations. I appreciate it. I will check this thread regularly. Stay in touch and best of luck!
Sorry to hear of your problems, over the last 30-60 days, I've been taking, Biotin and Vitamin D, these both have had a positive impact. I also get a bit of dryness on the forehead, but nothing too crazy. I'm going to start apply coconut oil onto my eyebrows, hopefully this may help as it's helped my forehead.

I agree with the healing of the inside out, and that's why over the past 2 weeks I've been taking a probiotic, haven't noticed much difference yet but hopefully in the next few weeks. I'm going to look into methods of detoxing the entire internal body system.

Yesterday I forgot to take my thyroid medication and it was amazing how tired and sluggish I really did feel, was ready for a nap by 2pm in the arvo (too bad I was at work!)

Good luck, and keep the post going

I am starting to also see a lot of people mentioning this starts in the gut.

But I have also read that Serb derm has a surface bacteria and sulfar wash helps kill it.

    Anyway best of luck

^ understand the frustration all too well. I'm trying Grapefruit seed extract and starting up on MSM (1500mg) and biotin (600 mcg). We'll see how this goes.

Diet never made any difference to me as far as SD
(usually follow a semi-low carb diet now - but had same SD starting about 40 years ago - before ever heard of low carb)

SD seems to come and go more on it's own

Luckily have had good luck maintaining/controlling it with assorted dandruff shampoos
Mostly Nizoral but occasionally will throw in the other types

When it get's bad around the eyebrows, forehead area
will use ketoconazole cream 2% (prescription) daily for a good 2 week run.

Hi fm, just wondering how you were doing with the seb derm on the eyebrows, I have exactly the same thing as you, i get a thick white paste all over my eyebrow skin after a shower and have to rub it off, i gently go around the perimeter, but lose tons of hairs. I can't take this anymore!

    Default Aaah me too ~

Pls. let us talk I have same thing going on .... white layers of dry skin is visible after washing and only takes a sharp object to scrape off. Also it does not come off easily with water alone. Water just makes it more visible. A moisturiser followed by an AHA is what makes it easier to remove the flakes .... still hating doing it !!! Lets talk and together find a solution to this depressing condition.

HEY dmm and desperado! What a coincidence. Ok I got a lot to say.

I made those comments some time ago and just by Google ran into this thread again. If you guys are serious and want to share information (since the 3 of us seem to have the same thing) I highly recommend we talk through email as it is a far more reliable way to communicate as opposed to wondering if your message was seen on a forum and waiting for someone who may not ever answer. Let's trade emails so that we can reach each other when we have to.

Yes, this is super depressing stuff. I still suffer from eyebrow loss and have the white gunk after showers. My eyebrows though rarely itch now and the redness has improved. It has gotten better due to a lot of different stuff I've been trying but can we first see what in the world is causing this? Let's share our history and perhaps we can isolate and find out what is causing this. Based on the research I've done (and I've done a lot) these are the things about me that can be causing this issue:

    1. Used to eat a lot of junk food during college (a ton). I never eat junk food now.
    2. Poor digestion and bowel movement (I used to sleep right after eating and also see #1). My bowel movement is regular now due to my new diet habits.
    3. I get poor sleep caused by a congested nose every night. Unfortunately I still have this.
    4. I took antibiotics for about a week when I had very bad pneumonia. Have never taken antibiotics since.
    5. I might have mold/fungus issues in my body as I inhaled the mold spores from my dormitory (dorm/college = long time ago, like 8 years ago).
    6. I have mercury amalgams/fillings. 3 of em, but now 2 since I just removed my biggest one.

^ Based on my research, any one of these, or a combination of these things about me that I listed can cause the issue I have. Please list your "possible causes" list too so that we can possibly compare and isolate the root cause of our eyebrow issue. It can't hurt. Right now we need to share info.

I do believe after all I've read that this is an allergic reaction. I also believe my congested nose at night is also due to an allergic reaction. The flaking skin, the redness/inflammation, the nose congestion, the occasional red bumps on my finger (disappears in 2-3 days, comes about once every 6 months?)... these things all suggest an allergic reaction of some kind. My best guess is due to Candida overgrowth.
