The CAUSE of rosacea!
I believe I've found the cause behind (at least my own) rosacea. It's a little complicated with a long list of symptomatic conditions but here it is:
Rosacea is the red appearance caused by vasilodilation. This is triggered by a higher body temperature (like when normal people do exercise). This is an abnormality in homeostasis caused by a hormone imbalance. Specifically too much estrogen. This increase in estrogen is caused by too much copper in your system. Copper is retained more in people who's sympathetic nervous system is overactive. This can be a genetic predisposition to what is known as 'Adrenal Insufficiency' and it can be exacerbated by particular stimulants and stress. Adrenal Insufficiency is when the adrenal gland can make too much adrenalin but gets tired and then it doesn't do it's other jobs correctly. The adrenal gland is supposed to stimulate the pancreas to function properly too. Adrenal Insufficiency leads to not enough pancreatic activity. That is why some rosacea sufferers find supplements such as betaine and pancreatic enzymes useful. Not enough stomach acid/protease would lead to compromised amino acid assimilation (and hence the lysine deficiency mentioned by others). Furthermore, the pancreas creates insulin. Underactive pancreatic activity causes Insulin Resistance (not enough insulin) which may be why carbohydrates are said to trigger rosacea. I believe this state of high blood sugar is called hyperglycemia (as opposed to the low blood sugar of hypoglycemia). FYI red wine is not only high in sugars but also high in copper. Soy and nuts also contain lots of copper.
Supplements I'm ta Vitamins A, B, C, D, E, Zinc Drink, Licorice root, Siberian Ginseng, Red Clover, Liquid Chlorophyll.
Why? Because I have 'Copper toxicity' (a secondary condition known to be caused by Adrenal Insufficiency). To release this copper from my body I take the Zinc, Vitamin A and Vitamin C together. Then the copper is released into your blood stream so you need to bind it. Calcium, protein and chlorophyll function to bind the copper. However to digest protein you need stomach ACID and chlorophyll is an ALKALIZER so mixing protein and chlorophyll at the same time is NOT a great idea.
Licorice root and Siberian Ginseng are known to rejuvinate your adrenal gland. Licorice root in particular has a calming effect helping to deal with stress. I take these 15 mins AFTER a meal (which includes protein) as I assume they’re alkalines. You may have noticed that Licorice root is used in many topical 'redness relief' products. Coincidence?
A source I trust says that Red Clover is an estrogen blocker. As high estrogen is the inevitable effect of high copper I decided to include it in my regime.
NOTE: I've been told that vitamin E should only be taken at night. Vitamin D supplements are only D3. To get the others you need sunlight. Vitamin D improves calcium absorption. I'm taking the recommended dosages of all the vitamins EXCEPT Zinc. I've increased the zinc dosage to 150-250mg per day. I'm aware that the recommended dosage is 50mg. If you choose to go above the recommended dosage then start off slow. Take care if you're a woman too as men are meant to have more Zinc than women. 1mL of Zinc Drink contains: 50mg Zinc Sulphate, 20.8mg Magnesium Chloride and 2.5mg Pyridoxine hydrochloride.
You may also want to consider separating proteins and carbs. Proteins require protease for digestion (which only works in stomach ACID). Carbs require Amylase (which only works in an Alkaline pH range). If you combine proteins and carbs together in the same meal you are sabotaging your digestive system and almost inevitably causing compromised amino-acid assimilation.
Increased estrogen has been linked to increased connectedness of the 2 sides of the brain. However, this could be the effect of the copper. I'd love to know if neurologists have diagnosed any other rosacea sufferers with abnormally increased neurological activity. This may have manifested as hightened intelligence, mental illness or epilepsy.
