Southern California Rosacea Specialists?

Was recently diagnosed with rosacea, but I really don't feel like my derm knows all that much about it. Not a fan of her either (Dr Kurlan).

Does anyone here visit derms in the riverside county area? I could go all the way down to San Diego or all the way up to LA. Any ideas?

I live in Temecula and trying to find a doctor who REALLY understands rosacea. Any luck on your end?

I live in Murrieta! Haha, quite the coincidence.

Anyway, I've seen..2 dermatologists in the relative area. One was Dr Kurlan who is located in Murrieta. The other was Scheinberg located..dang, somewhere about 45 minutes away. Oceanside I think.

Kurlan was only willing to the basic things. She put me on finacea and I had 3 IPLs from her recomendation. She's certainly a nice lady, but she wasn't willing to try anything other than the basics. I went and saw her after a few months of the finacea and she told me she couldn't help me anymore. At that point in time I was hoping to get on Mepacrine.

I then went to Scheinberg to see if he could help me. He wasn't willing to use the Mepacrine unless I had a positive ANA, which I didn't. He put me on Elidel which made my skin at least twice as bad. It was horrible stuff. He said if the Elidel didn't work and I wasn't ANA positive he'd try Vbeam next.

I finally decided to go to a rheum to see if it was lupus through a bunch of other blood tests. Long story short I don't have lupus but she was willing to try the quinacrine. She's really not supposed to deal with rosacea, however, so I wouldn't reccomend her unless you have similar symptoms to me. She works off of Murrieta Hot Springs.

If you could give me some history of what derms you've been to and what your symptoms/history of treatments/ why you have rosacea I could definitely help.

I actually live in Murrieta. I am 61 been dealing with skin issues for 20 yrs. Been to numerous doctors over the year. Cream, ointment, etc. Most of it does not work. My biggest complaint is the burning/stinging on my face. I went off gluten to see if I can get any improvement there. I have a good diet and also starting some raw foods classes. I have gone to Dr. Chen & Kurlan in the past. I am considering. Someone mentioned a Dr. Mitch Goldman in LaJolla.
