A friend insists that rosacea patients should NOT consume dairy. I am looking for feedback from rosacea sufferers who have tried giving up dairy -- some, all, whatever. What happened to you?

Hi cupfish,
It depends on whether you are sensitive to dairy products. Not everyone is affected by dairy but it can be a trigger for some so it comes down to your individual reaction.
There is no one size fits all regarding triggers or treatments or anything involving rosacea unfortunately. If you are unsure cut it out for a couple of months and see what happens.
Best,
Melissa
Dairy has been known for at least 50 years to exacerbate acne. If your rosacea has a sebaceous component (phymatous changes, sebaceous gland hypertropy, excess oil, and/or acne-like eruptions), dairy is probably not helping your condition.
Your call, but if you do give it up, I would find other supplements to make sure you still get the vitamins and minerals dairy provides. You don't want to trade one problem for another.
1,000 IU D3
50mg zinc
50mg magnesium chelate
25mg diphenhydramine HCI
10mg DHEA
Psyllium fiber
Pure Protein bar
Drink filtered/bottled water only, wash with tepid water/moisturizing soap, filtered shower head, Rosacea Care moisturizer, tinted ZincO
I avoid multi-vitamins and most other high-dose vitamins and supplements, oil-based supplements (like omega 3/6, A, and E), nitrite preservatives, probiotics, sugar, fruit, alcohol, caffeine, exercising in a warm room
Less is more!
I've cut out all cows dairy products and I'm already seeing an improvement in my skin. It is definitely less red and fierce looking than before. However at the same time, I've cut out all products containing tomatoes and starting taking 1 zinc tablet a day.
Ive replaced cows milk with rice milk.... (And it really doesnt taste that bad)
Would this be ok if I want to lessen my dairy intake?
I got some wheat free, gluten free muesli from the health shop and eating that with the rice milk for breakfast this past few days.
I dont know if it makes a difference with Rosacea,But I recently took a food intolerance test (for skin issues,I suspect SD) and I am sensitive to Cow's milk,Sheep milk, soy and rice hence cant have those milk products either..But im not sensitive to yoghurt and cheese..My advice different people are sensitive to different things so trying figuring it out..I mean I had stopped all diary rice and wheat at one point..who knew I'd be sensitive to ALOE VERA,strawberries, black pepper and ginger too..![]()
