    Hi Auburn,

The digestive enzyme I take is Solgar's Digestive Enzyme.
I went on Solgar's web site www.solgar.com to get you the url to it but I cant find my product on their site anymore... they have some other digestive support tablets... will look into them...

I have just bought some Kefir Goats Milk from the health shop as well as some probiotics, the best I could get was with 1 billion live cultures in. (They are on ice now next to my desk )

The oats I eat is not instant no, Im aware of the evil that sugar is admitting I am a chocolate lover and this is not easy to give up... The Oats is not Oat Bran either, in South Africa is called Jungle Oats or Tiger Oats made by Tiger Brands, its just a plain rolled oat in a big box, either whole (Tiger Oats) or not (Jungle Oats). I just pop a little with cold water into the microwave for 2 minutes and thats that. I must say that I have only been eating oats for breakfast for the last week or 2 and are battling with a bloated stomach every afternoon. Today if fact I havent done the oats so will try to find the culprit. I also do Pro Nutro for breakfast, a corn based breakfast cereal, wheat gluten and sugar free. With this I just add some hot water and enjoy as is. Thinking I should go back to this breakfast.

Problem is is that not long after breakfast I am hungry again, and to find healthy alternative snacks that is not to expensive is not easy. Apparently fruit is good but not to much and not all types... I have some rice cakes and corn cakes I snack on, as well as pumpkin seeds.

    Thanks for all the help!

    (sorry for hijacking the post...)

Ive been diagnosed with Leaky Gut, and after spending the last couple of days reading through a lot of posts, have started today with Glutamine twice a day also Acidophylis twice a day. I am also drinking a digestive enzyme with lunch and dinner. (I eat oats for breakfast.) Also once a day a tea spoon of apple cider vinegar in a cup of water, and once a week physilium husk in water.

I have p&p and deep red cheeks rosacea, though no flushing. Very dry skin.

My other problem is I have no gallbladder left and red a post by Auburn saying to stay away from bitters...

Is there anything more I should be doing or something I am doing that I shouldnt be doing maybe?
Zinc is also a good supplement to add to your diet, as it is very important for the mucosa health. It has also antibacterial properties, help regulate hormones (useful in acne problems) is involved in the digestive juices production, ... I think 50mg of zinc picolinate or gluconate with the largest meal (to prevent nausea) is a correct dosage (or 2x 25 mg in two takes).

L-Glutamine is best taken on a empty stomach at least 30 minutes before meals, like every amino acid.

Replenish the flora will help restore a proper pH, fight pathogens, and help heal the gut lining, so it has to be what to focus on in the first place, in my opinion!

    Best wishes!

This page: http://www.torontoadvisors.com/Kefir/kefir-list.php lists people from all over the planet who share their kefir grains, nine listed under South Africa. Water kefir is the easiest/quickest to make and you can flavor it using dry or freshly juiced fruits; when I started making water kefir, I used dry figs, raisins or cranberries but the fresh fruit juice (using the two-step method) makes a much tastier, fizzier drink. Terrific, really.

OK, try this and see if it helps: Place the usual amount of oats in a bowl, add same volume of water plus a tablespoon of plain yogurt (or a teaspoon of raw apple cider vinegar or freshly squeezed lemon juice), mix, cover and leave on the counter overnight. In the morning, put this in a small pan and cook for a minute or two (you may need to add a bit more water). Flavor to taste. This method is a bit more involved than using the microwave yet quite quick and it should prevent bloating.

The natural food shops in your area should carry oat bran and steel-cut oats (if you find them, just add a couple of tablespoons of oat bran to the steel-cut oats and prepare as above; they have a different texture than rolled oats and are very filling and with the added bran, it's a great prebiotic breakfast; add a glass of kefir and you have the perfect pre/probiotic combo).

Try drinking a glass of kefir a few minutes before breakfast, have the oats and a banana. Another glass of kefir and an apple by midmorning should keep you going until lunch. I know that right now you are buying the kefir but, once you start making your own, it will be very inexpensive.

    Thanks for all the help!
    You are most welcome.

If you think you might have stomach/digestive issues is a stool analysis the best way too go?

Hi, i've read betaine hydrochloric acid (HCl) may help with digestion, especially the digestion of protein and fats.

Apparently as you get older your stomach produces less acid so a supplement may be necessary.

I'm 46 and my lifestyle and diet hasn't changed much at all for the last 20-25 years so i'm trying to nail down a deficiency i may have developed due to the aging process. Below is a copy and paste i found on low Hydrochloric Acid.

Common Symptoms Of Low Hydrochloric Acid
Bloating or belching, especially after eating
Burning in the stomach, especially after eating
Fullness or heaviness in the stomach after eating
Nausea after eating or taking supplements
    Intestinal gas
    Indigestion
    Bad breath
    Diarrhea or constipation
    Food allergies
    Itching around the rectum
    Weak or cracked fingernails
Dilated blood vessels in the cheeks or nose (in nonalcoholics)
    Skin break-outs or acne
    Iron deficiency
    Chronic intestinal parasites
    Undigested food in the stool
    Chronic candida infection

I normally use a good multi vitamin/mineral but have recently added 50mg of zinc (as mentioned by Mask) because of it's benefits for skin and also Chromium as it is supposed to help balance blood sugar. A good balance of omega fats are also supposed to help.

We have a suncreen product here in Australia called "zinc stick" which contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide which i have been applying to my nose and upper cheeks (my flare-up areas) before potential triggers and my flare ups have decreased in frequency, intensity and duration so i have my fingers crossed i'm onto something.

Maybe eat as natural as you can or maybe look into some sort of food combing if the problem still persists.

    I wish you luck.

I've been wondering this for a while, i've had skin problems for quite a while but it's gotten worse over the last couple of years. Strangely as my stomach and digestive system seem to have just gone downhill! After going through it over and over again it's looking like i have a few symptoms of Coeliac Disease which apparantly can occur with Rosacea (http://www.livestrong.com/article/45...luten-rosacea/).

I'm going to talk about this with my doctor soon because i've been having stomach issues just as long as i've been having problems with my skin and i'm seriously starting to believe there's something else going on!
