Hi squirrelgirl - I am sorry to hear you can't wear make-up any longer. Geeesh, what other curve balls can this condition throw a gal???

I can totally relate, upon my last visit to me derm, I went in sans make-up so she can get a good view of my skin and she suspected I might be allergic to something...of course, she picks on my make-up (I use Sunforgettable , have used it for two years, before I was diagnosed w/ no problems)

So she just tells me I can't wear make-up for at least two weeks! I'm thinking, no way, do you know what you are asking me to do here? It would be OK if I was sitting at home but I have a job and I cannot imagine having to face people without it on. I do try to stay make-up free on my days off when I don't have to go out but that is only two days out of the week.

I still wear the make-up. I keep it to a bare minimum, just a light brushing to cover the redness. I don't know what I would do without it. Unless I know 100% for sure, it is causing the irritation/redness, I will continue to wear it. I have no idea what I will do if the day comes when I just can't wear it any longer. I suppose I'll have to cross that bridge when I get to it. I'm still mourning the fact I can't use my regular skin care products that I have used for years!

Funny, but when my skin was actually "good" I didn't wear make-up. I cannot even remember what that was like to get out of bed and not have to worry about covering up all the flaws. I took that for granted. Now, I feel as if I NEED it, which sucks.

This has got to be so hard for you. I hate how society judges women, right down to our skin (has to be flawless, smooth, etc) but I see a lot of women who have skin problems and they just forge ahead.

Great to have this forum, isn't it? People here who can totally relate.

    Take care!
