    Default Immediate solutions?

    Hi guys, just a scenario..

let's say you got a job interview, or an important date with someone, but you notice your face is really flushed or tingly when you woke up on the day itself, or just after finish taking a shower. What do you do for a quick 'treatment'? Or do you just leave it since there really isn't nothing much you can do?

i always have this problem and i just left it alone hoping it'd go away soon, so hopefully someone can provide some info here

This is something I've been thinking about myself. I had a job interview and flushed during it myself, it was pretty embarrassing, but I still got the job so I don't think it matters. Everyone is nervous during interviews so flushing/redness looks pretty normal to be honest.

As for dates, well, haven't been on one of those since my rosacea started so can't help you there haha. I'd say that probably avoiding triggers for a few days before (don't take a hot shower, etc.) is your best bet.

Some anti-flushing meds might help as well, you should do a search on the forums for those. And if all else fails, a little light make up probably wouldn't hurt.

Beta blockers, clonidine, and a cool relaxing environment help. Also, avoiding foods which may make the flush worse.

Rosacea is all about damage control. You'll never be able to entirely tame it in such situations (unless you use topical steroids... a biiiiig no-no). Medications can help. A calm state of mind can help. But there comes a point where environment/physiological factors which are out of your control come into play and theres nothing you can do but keep your chin up and ride it out.

Stressing about it will make it worse.

Sitting in front of the mirror for 30 minutes will make you more self conscious, and in a roundabout way make it worse.

Just get it overwith and do the best you can, its only a big deal if you make it a big deal. Most people are too self absorbed to notice anyway.

I have sometimes tamed a flush with pseudoephedrine but would only use as a last resort as it can ramp up the anxiety.Propranolol or tiny dose of pindolol stop me flushing if I take them when i know I will be in a stressful situation.

yea.. one of the worst things to do in such situations is to be nervous or making it a big deal, which leads to a vicious cycle and before you know it, it gets even redder and the stinging sensations increases
