    Unhappy Post eye surgery

Four months ago I had a brown spot removed from the white of the eye. My eye now has a red line in it where the excision was made, with blood vessels extending towards it. It has gotten better with time, however I find myself crying almost every night worrying that this is a scar. There's nothing I want more than for my eye to just be a normal, white eye. Is this possible? Will the redness ever fade? How many months may it take? And if the redness is indeed a scar, is there anything I can do about it?

    Hi

These questions should really be directed to your eye doctor. If you had surgery then surely you must have a follow up appointment. if not I would phone up and ask for one.

    Hi Coco,
I agree with Sarah. Absolutely follow this up with your eye doctor.

What type of brown spot was removed from your eye and why?

The eye doctor who did the surgery should be able to give you a timeline re healing and appearance and I am sure that he/she needs to follow you up re the brown spot that was removed.

    Good luck!

    Melissa

    Default hi

hi i had surgery on my eye as well to remove a spot on the white part...this will take some time to heal.. unfortunately for me, i have rosacea, which absolutely exaggerates the condition. My eye has never been the same since the surgery. Its easily irriated by stress and having rosacea made it worse. If you have rosacea, chances are you will need a low dose antibiotic treatment like oracea for long term management. If you don't have rosacea, you should be fine in another 6 months or so....this is just my own anecdotal experience. hope you are well - dave

You should be careful. Care should be taken while using the eye drops. Nozzle should be kept a away from the eyes as even a slight shake could cause damage to the eyes. you can get more information at

Hi, I had a retinal detachment a few years back and the surgeon cut all around my iris to get at the back of my eyeball to correct my retina. The overall redness should fade, but unfortunately your eyes are really good at making blood vessels since it's imperative that the eye has an ample supply of blood flow at all times. When there is eye trauma, the eye usually makes more blood vessels to help heal the area as quickly as possible. What this means is that you will permanently have more blood vessels in that eye, therefore making your eye look redder at a distance. Oh yeah, and I do have a scar around my iris, but it isn't red, it's white and barely noticeable unless you know what to look for and is looking really closely for it.

So I would say it is less likely the scar will be red and more likely that your eye will be producing more blood vessels around that area. It is just the way your body heals itself so no reason to get concerned.
Current skincare regime for rosacea subtypes I, II and IV started March, 2012:

*Strict diet. No dairy, wheat, sugar, nuts/seeds, legumes. Only meat, 'safe starches', and low-phenol starchy/unstarchy fruits and veggies and water with ghee, lard and duck fat as cooking aids and sources of fat. Also avoiding food intolerances.
Supplementing with raw food multivitamin, liquid zinc sulfate with copper, epsom salt baths (magnesium sulfate), calcium and vitamin C. Lots of water!
