Default Does this look familiar to anyone?

After enjoying several weeks of nearly normal skin, hardly needing any makeup, and only one mild flush from a couple sips of champagne at a wedding a few weeks ago, my skin is acting up again.

The only things I can think that might be affecting it are the fact that I ate a lot of sugar over the past week, I had a ton of peanuts this past weekend, I tried to use Calendula cream, and I tried to start my probiotics again. Any or all of those could've contributed, but who knows!

Here are a couple pics. The affected areas feel like sandpaper. I also have a small patch on my left eyelid, but it's not red, just rough, so it didn't show up in the photo.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    ~J

**The small red dots on my cheek are from where I scratched and the little spots bled. They look like pimples, I guess, but they're not. They're little scabs from scratching the tiny rashy spots.

Here's a bigger image. YIKES! But it may give a better view.

    Hi J,

Guess this won't help much but since I've been coming off of steroids too
it definitely sounds familiar ...2 steps forward one step back.
(even though I know I've done nothing different)

Really doubt the champagne sips would cause it after this long
    but peanuts may have.

Never have taken Probiotics much (thought 1 billion was a lot )
...but can you really be sure how much is in each?

Hey! I very recently posted something on peanuts!! Sure some people have read my other post.. On friday i had a MAJOR let go on these awesome wasabi peanuts.. theres a market in london down the road from where i worl and the guy sells them in quite large plastic bags. I literally ate the entire bag in 2 hours!!!!! They are so more ish!!
Anyway, my skin broke out BADLY (much worse than yours, i wouldnt even post a pic of me on here!) and is still very inflamed now. No other diet factor changed. Definitely the peanuts for me!! pity cos they are SO good.
So yea.. and turns out, form my pther post, that quite a few peeps react from peanuts and other nuts also..
    hope this helps!!

It's such a pain- not knowing if it's still just the "2 steps forward 1 step back" of the steroid use, which I've been off for a while now, but the problems can linger for a very long time- or if it's a condition all on it's own.

    So frustrating!

I think I responded to your peanuts post! It was your post that made me think maybe the peanuts contributed to this. I used to eat peanuts/peanut butter constantly, but I haven't eaten them for a few months now. I guess I'll just stop again and see if I can stay clear once I get this crap cleared up!

    Thanks!

    Default Well

Definitely looks like a Rosacea flare, although not a terrible one.

Be careful about changing/trying too many things at once or it becomes impossible to determine what might have contributed to it.

I have found eating nuts in general gives me bad flares, i love brazils, but they make me break out.

It could be for me that because i suffer from seb derm, and nuts are considered a fungus food, then they bring on a flare.

Is there a list of "fungus foods" somewhere out there? I know that mushrooms (obviously) and sprouts (I think) are on such a list, but I didn't know nuts were on it. I also ate mushrooms last week, which I haven't done in months, so now I'm thinking it's somehow related to a yeast or fungus overgrowth more than ever!

    Thanks!

    Hi J,

Has it been getting any better yet?

Since I've started using a CVS brand Zinc Oxide 6.8 % sunscreen 45+SPF
have noticed an improvement in the overall background redness
(the teles do tend to stick out more though)

Pretty sure it's not just because it goes on white as paint
it feels like the skin texture has improved.

ps..there was another thread about the people having the opposite affect
    so maybe test spot first.
