Default Is it ok to flush occasionally?

I know we're meant to avoid flushing to prevent the progression of this stupid disease, but once in a while it happens. Since I stopped using steroids my face doesn't burn or anything, but I still get flushed cheeks when I am stressed or upset, or during *Whisper* intimate time with Boyfriend. I can't help this.

So, is it ok to flush once in a while? Maybe a couple of times a week or so?

I hope so! That's kind of where I am right now. When my skin was hypersensitive with my contact derm it happened more often. Now that my skin is calming down, I seem to be flushing less, and less intense. Maybe a few times a week, and more pink than red, just in the apples of the cheeks, sometimes nose with a little swelling.

I'm hoping the more my skin calms down, the less I'll flush. Getting back to my "normal" social flushing would be cool with me! I just hope, for me, that's what happens until that "miracle" Sansrosa stuff gets here and saves me!!!!!

Pretty much everybody flushes at some time the key to try to keep it a minimum when at all possible. I would only worry if it goes on for extended periods after you have finished your *special time* with your boyfriend or any othre normal trigger.

Kind of like the last 2 years? I have had a 24/7 bad flush that wont go away. Nothing helps it.

    Life sucks.

Ewist, I am sure I know what causes your rosacea. The same cause of my own, which has now almost
gone away totally. Digestion is not the main problem as we once thought.

    Get these supplements

Also eat fresh ginger everyday. Chew it and wash it down with water. I can give you more info
    later.

    Hey man.

Thanks for the response - I'm just wondering, what do you think the cause of (our) rosacea is?

Its awsome that yours is almost completely gone. Whatever the cause may be, I think it may be somehow connected to my fatigue problem.

Thanks for the info, could you just elaborate a little bit more of what you think the cause is and how these will help?

    Thanks alot

Default Is it ok to flush occasionally?

    Hi all,

I'd love to hear what others define as a "flush." Recognizing that everyone is different, I'm having a hard time discerning a flush from just natural fluctuations in coloration. I have persistent redness on my cheeks, regardless of activity level. I exercise every day (usually outside, but sometimes in a gym), I eat pretty much anything I want and have some very very subtle changes in facial color that are no more significant that what I would consider normal for working out, being in the cold, etc. A warm room will often generate a bit more color in my cheeks, and I have "flushed" once while drinking red wine, but only once.

Are these fluctuations considered "flushing"? If so, how in the WORLD is it possible to avoid it???

    Confused...

Hey Ewist. I had similiar rosacea, mainly redness on cheeks, cheekbones and middle of forehead. Not
    on the nose though.

I think rosacea can be caused by different things. One cause is TNF-a, NF-kB and other inflammatory
factors. They are released due to long standing stress which screws up the adrenal glands, thymus gland and the pancreas, resulting in too much cortisol in the blood, chronic fatigue, digestive problems, hormonal imbalances, high blood pressure, rosacea and other skin problems and more.

The key is to identifying stress factors and start dealing with them differently in better ways. And start
taking the supps listed, they correct these issues.

I forgot one last supp to take

    http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1&pid=1106

Get all of them and start taking them every day. Let me know how it works for you.

Personally, I think as long as the flush doesn't last for a long time (i.e half an hour to an hour) then it's fine. Everyone gets flushed sometimes - bending down to pick somthing off the floor, exercise etc. Its the ones that last freakishly long that are the ones that could cause damage, I think.

Try not to worry about flushing. From experience the more you worry about it the more consious you are of it, and then it usually happens! Drinking green tea really helps me to cool down.

My doc suggested to me today that it's a good idea to avoid all triggers, even if they don't appear to be producing a flare or flush, because these things can still have a vascular effect on the skin. She was talking specifically about things like spicy foods, alcohol, hot drinks. Anyone following this type of advice and avoiding all triggers even if they don't seem to make YOU flush? The list of potential triggers is so long that I'm not sure I want to get into avoidance just for avoidance's sake.
    Any advice would be appreciated~
