I went with the bands that have the most number of songs on my IPod in no particular order:
Better Than Ezra
Days of the New
Three Doors Down
There's so much that I like so this is tough and it does depend on my mood at the time but here's a sampling:
Much of what I am listening to at any given time depends on my frame of mind. When I'm feeling angry L7 is great as well as Pink. When I'm sad it's Billie Holiday, Chet Baker. Thoughtful moods demand Joni Mitchell, Sarah Mclachlan, Patti Smith. I also like K.T. Turnstall. And the Clash.
Then there are bands where almost any time will be right like U2, Eagles, Pearl Jam, Santana.
That's just a few that I enjoy. There's so much great music that it's impossible to name all of the great musicians I enjoy!
By no means exhaustive and in no particular order:
Natasha St Pier
Me Me and The Gimme Gimmes
Elvis Costello and The Attractions
Um now let me see
In some sort of order (well the first two anyway)
Kings of Leon
Queens of the Stone Age
Bat for Lashes
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Sarah, Radiohead's OK Computer and Bjork's Debut was listed in the top ten alternative rock albums category by Joey Rubin (music critic amongst other things)
In 2005, Spin magazine called OK Computer "the top album of the past 20 years." In 1998, my high school friends called it "the best album to listen to on your disc-man while looking at the stars and thinking wistfully about girls." I think you'll see they were both right.
If ever Alternative Rock was truly alternative, it was with Bjork. She'll freak you out in the best possibly way. Listen to it. My words will never do it justice.
My favorite band it 'Múm'. Beautiful music that is ambient, sometimes electronic sometimes not.
