    Default SD in mid-twenties?

Is it rare to develop SD at the age of 25? One would think that oil production would decrease around this time, leading me to think that SD would be more commonly developed at a younger age.

Apparently its more common to develop in your thirties than your younger years. I got mine in my thirties.

    Hi ckm,

I'd second that. I had my first bout of seb.derm. at 29 and it's become more of a nuisance over the past few years (I'm mid 30s now).

    Best wishes,

    Kristina

Don't know what the funny red icon means. That was a mistake!

Count me in with the Seb Derm at 39, and increased oil production out of nowhere at 38.

I wouldn't be too quick to relate SD with oil production. I'm aware that it is 'usually' people with oily skin that develop SD, but I developed it out of nowhere last August and I have dry skin. I was 24. I still have SD, it's been very resistant to treatment, and I still have dry skin.

    ...it sucks.

I can relate to that, Bren. My skin has got loads drier over the past year, while both my seb.derm. and rosacea have got worse. I think it makes it harder to manage the seb.derm. in some ways, especially as antifungals tend to be quite drying.

I'm 19 and I know I have it. The redness moves around and its scaly and peely its so shitty to have this in college. I'm going to get tested for diabetes because I have many side effects of diabetes. Diabetes can cause problems with yeast. I have had bad athelets foot, and problems. Mine stings alot when it gets irritated by soap or anything.

I've had it since the early 20's (I'm 37 now). It was only over the last 3 or 4 years that Rosacea has been added to the mix. Lotsa fun...

Mine started about 16 in the form of thick scaling on the scalp. It then very quickly spread to the sides of my nose and occasionally face and forehead. About 2 years ago (aged 26) my sebum production went through the roof and now I made rosacea and bad seb derm on the face, chest and groin. Life can be cruel.
