Default Sterilid Cleanser has helped my eye pain

I had been having eye pain for over a year now.... sore eyes, eye that hurt when I move them up or down, feeling tired, etc.. I thought these were all part of my headaches (I always suffer from chronic headaches)... but they would hurt even when I had no headache.

I started using OcuSoft Lid scrubs, and they helped a little, but then I tried Sterilid Cleanser (made by thera tears) and it has helped A LOT with my eye pain. In fact, it's almost completely gone.

It isn't helping with my eye redness at all yet. Maybe it never will. But it has helped my eye pain GREATLY.

I haven't been diagnosed with ocular rosacea yet. I JUST HAD an optometrist checkup about 2 months ago, and made sure to mention to him my rosacea and dry eyes. He didn't seem to think it was a big deal.

Yet, my eyes are somewhat red and I'm pretty sure that's what I have.

I think that if you're the type that gets the flushing symptoms (which, if I remember, correctly you are) and redness then ocular symptoms are part of the package.

I'm not surprised the optometrist didn't say much. I had 3 eye exams in a short period last summer because I was having vision changes. My Rx kept changing because of my dry eyes! The last guy I saw explained it all to me. Pretty bad when only one out of three knows anything about ocular rosacea. :? He told me that the flushing/redness kind of rosacea almost always comes with ocular symptoms (ocular rosacea).

So I guess that means I am better off seeing an opthomologist than an optometrist, eh?

Maybe I will make an appt. thanks!

I look forward to hearing what he tells you, and if the Sterilid Cleanser keeps working. I've never tried anything like that so I think I'm going to check it out.

    Cheers!

I never had eye symptoms until my rosacea got worse and was dx with it. I have seen two eye Dr.'s and neither one think I have ocular rosacea because my eyes are not red but I know this is ocular rosacea. I do get the symptoms when my face gets the symptoms. My eyelids are the worse part of my face actually, just not the eyeball. Just do your compresses and lid scrubs. I am now using restasis, plugs, and rewetting drops, hopefully the restasis kicks in after a month or so...Jenn

Wow, Jenn. Good luck with that. We can't get Restasis in Canada

    How do plugs feel?

There seems to be a decent amount of info about restasis and ocular rosacea. I had never heard about it until I saw a TV commercial for it 2 weeks ago. Sounds like a great drug...

Read this article and check out the pictures! Wow! If it can do that for ocular rosacea, I want to get some of this stuff...

The plugs feel fine, do not even know they are there now. The first week you could feel them a tiny bit but that is it. You cannot feel anything when they put them in, and they are in within seconds.

I did not know that you cannot get the drug restasis in Canada. I can say that my eyes do not feel itchy or scratchy at all now. The med does not burn or sting my eyes at all. I have more trouble with rewetting drops then these drops..lol..The drops are really expensive the Dr. said but I only paid 18.00 dollars for my co-pay and that is for like two months supply. Jenn
