Default PICTURES: Rosacea or seb derm?

Why I think I have Rosacea

The skin burns when under stress, in heat, or I come in contact with a trigger.

    The capillaries that are visible

My dad has terrible rosacea (worst i've seen ) So I am afraid I have inherited his rosacea

Reoccuring eye infections (Blepharitis -- pics here: http://forum.rosaceagroup.org/viewtopic.php?t=12083)

Why I think I have Seb Derm

    My age/sex (18/m)

When I try the medication (Sporanox) which supposedly reduces redness for SD, I never see any results.

I also have a little redness on my forehead, and I have also been told these are the classic areas for SD. (buttefly rash + forehead)

Metrogel hasn't helped my skin at all..

1.) This is not me.. The flash of the camera is decieving and makes some areas appear to be clear that are in fact red. Here is an example of where the redness is on my face: http://www.siamhealth.net/Health/Pho...g/SLE/SLE2.jpg
    The typical butterfly rash areas.

This shows a very wierd angle of my nose.. Looks like a witch nose.. The visibility of the veins changes from time to time.

Heres a beautiful picture of my big sausage nose.. Notice the blackheads (brownheads ) all over.

Yet another of my wonderful greasy nose. Good pic to show my enlarged pores and yet again.. The Black/brownheads.

You would be a candidate for IPL/Laser.
The damaged blood vessels would be eliminated (for a while) as would some of the diffused redness, and it would prabably shrink the pores!

Great great. I am currently in a situation (living overseas) where I can not get IPL/Laser treat. I definately will when I go to the States. Anything I should know in advanced? I hear that it is bad for facial hair growth.. Do you know if this is permanent? I definately would be hesitant if it is permanent. Thanks for your response

Some people with dark facial hair have reported some facial hair loss, but it usually comes back after some months.

Some people with fair facial hair (including women) have reported increased hair growth.

From your pics, you seem to have dark hair, so you might experience some mild reduction of your facial hair. If this happens, I guess you just have to keep yourself clean-shaven until the follicles recover.

Alright. I do have dark facial hair, so i will be expecting some loss. I must say I am a little worried about doing a treatment like this because right now.. Im doing OK. I really don't want everything to go down the drain from a blotched IPL. Is it easy to mess up on these?

    Thanks

Hey Flemmo.. Glad to know im not alone, so what have you been doing to calm down your skin?

I just put on prosacea cream and sunblock.. Yep thats it.. I really dont know where to go from here..

One more thing I forgot to mention.. Sometimes I can feel a tinging in my nose and then a sort of pulsing, and thats when the redness gets REALLY REALLY bad.. I hate the feeling.. Anyone else get it?

Wow, I have a very similar condition... My nose is constantly red and very oily. It looks just like yours! My capillaries aren't that bad, but the diffuse redness is there for sure.

I also have large pores on my nose, which is definitely the reason for the oily skin. I'm sure your situation is similar.

    What has helped:

    1) IPL. I got it done only on my nose. Only costs me $50 per session! Plus, it really does shrink and tighten the pores. I need a few more sessions to get the redness down to where I want.

    2) Good Skin products.
I was amazed at how well these products worked at lowering the redness level. NOTHING else worked for me like these.

    3) Caffeine! It's funny, but whenever I stay up late drinking caffeine, the next morning my nose is not nearly as red as it usually is.

My dermatologist, who I visited once, said I have seb derm and not rosacea. He gave me some steroid cream but it really didn't do anything for the redness. So, I think I actually do have a mild case of rosacea.[/url]

I'm currently dark purple following PDL Sounds pretty drastic, but topicals and strict diet aren't stopping rosacea from advancing. I use sudocrem for the seb derm spots/scales, but I haven't found anything for larger areas and red areas. My main issue is excessive sebum production. If I can get this down, the seb derm should settle, followed by rosacea. PDL should help both too.

The tingling in your nose followed by pulsing sounds like a rosacea flush, as I get this every evening without fail! When my seb derm is bad I'm much more likely to get flushing, it might be the same for you.

So have you found prosacea to be a big help at all?
