Default Does anybodys face look like this?? See photo

Hi everyone, finally got my mugshot. Feels a little embarrassing but hey what have I got to lose!

As you can see I have redness which is caused by hundreds of tiny capillaries which have come more to the surface in the last year. Now I have an itching dry feeling on the central face which feels slightly thick and puffy. Sometimes it feels so sensitive I cant even have a single strand of hair touching it as its so itchy. When I did give in and scratch it it swelled up and started weeping. I just dont know what to put on it. I need a cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen and something to heal this whole thing up. Doc gave me doxycycline but dont know if its best or is there something natural I can have? At the moment I am only putting Lemnis Fatty Cream on and rosaceacare calming lotion on as it does stop the sensation for a bit. I dont really have p&ps, maybe a few wee ones.I flush too on thenose, also on the ears, neck and chest where I have been sunburnt so many times. PLEASE HELP ME

    hi there,

your skin is a little like mine when my rosacea started. I started out with metrogel which worked well for a while. It's good that you are getting treatment now before it gets worse.

When mine was like yours I had no idea about rosacea so delayed getting treatment which didn't help.

Finacea is great for p&p's. I also have IPL which has made a huge difference.

Natural things to try may include Emu oil products.

    best wishes

Very similar to me too. Do you have seborrheic dermatitis, that you know of? My dry/itchiness/weeping comes from seb derm which I've had for 12 years.

    Me too....

Red on the nose and cheeks...no where else. And one cheek is worse than the other.

I was started on metro (Noritate) when I was first DX'ed, then switched to Finacea because of the P&P's.

Some of then symptoms you describe sound very much like SD.

Thank you so much for your replies.

I seriously don't know whether I have SD or not. My gut feel is that I have rosacea as the weeping only happens when I scratch. Does SD do this?

The rest of my face feels moisturized and soft but the areas on the cheeks feel very dry, spongy and raw sometimes and I really want some kind of soothing and healing product. Sometimes the feeling minimizes down when I put the Rosacea Care calming lotion on which stings at first and gets very itchy but then subsides. It does nothing for the redness and the dryness comes back soon afterwards.

See below for some clearer photos

Moomy, I have had IPL and it didn't help me really. Has the emu oil helped you and how effective is it?

At the moment i don't have a cleanser or a good moisturizer. Can anyone recommend what they think would be the best? Should I also take the doxy pills the doc gave me and/or metronidazole cream? I hate anti-biotics but I am not yet sure about which natural supplements/creams would work effectively.

I am willing to try some things and am interested to know from your comments what has worked best for you.

    Thanks everyone

    Sarah

personally i think doxycycline is only worth it if you have P&P's. I found them to dry my skin and eyes. They did nothing for redness. But everyone is different and some have found them to help.
You mention using Rosacea Care calming lotion makes your skin sting. I normally try to avoid anything that stings.
