Default Afraid, Would be greatful for help.

Here's My story. Im a 20 year old male who has had a skin condition on my forehead for the last 3 years. My doctor diagnosed me with exzema and perscribed me a steroid cream. This seemed to make things worse, I didnt know what it was if I put anything on it to stop the burning it would turn bright red. I eventully saw a dermatologist who brushed me off and said it would go away in time. So before I saw him again I did some research and found I share alot of the symptoms of Rosacea, so he agreed with me and perscribed me metrogel and oral antibiotics. After finishing the medicine I saw no improvment, my forehead is scaly(worse on one side) with random patches of what looks like to me Exzema, but my forehead also looks to have 1000 little bumps that dont make it look like the skin on my cheeks at all for example. Also in the last 3 weeks half a dozen pimple looking bumps have popped up, I have worn my hat for the last 3 weeks due to embarrasment. I have another dermatologist apointment in october, but in the meantime I got my doctor to put me on metrogel again. Sorry if I am repeating allready answered questions but I have scanned your archives and not found much on the forehead area. To be honest im not 100% sure I have rosacea, so if anyone could give me some advice I would be thankful, Im tired of being ugly

    Hi NSCC08,

It's a bit quiet here right now, we're in different timezones, but folks will see your thread and reply. Some of us have eczema with their rosacea, and some have seb derm. I wonder if you have Seb Derm. Phlika will be able to give you some guidance on that. I have eczema. One thing we all know is that, as a general rule, steroids on the face is bad. There are very few, short term, exceptions.

Metrogel can be too harsh for some people (me included). My skin responds better to MetroCream. If the scaliness is dryness than you may want to even try MetroLotion. But if the scaliness is oily then I would think seb derm and you need something completely different for that (Nizarol I think).

The bumps are part and parcel of some types of rosacea, but they could also be perioral derm from the steroids. My face was covered in tiny bumps from the steroids, then when that cleared after about 4 months I got altogether different bumps from the Rosacea! These were on my forehead too and took almost two months of metrocream and doxycycline to clear.

You'll get more input from others here.

    Good luck!

That sounds similar to sebderm which i also get on my forehead. I also get scaley little itchy patches which at one stage i thought might be eczema or psorasis. (especially in my eyebrows and around scalp area) My forehead gets very flakey, and i also have spots type lesions popping up . (some of them are pretty big and take ages to go away). I only get very slight redness but no burning on my forehed. But reading other posts apparently seb derm can cause redness and burning. Also after ipl (which can make seb derm worse), my whole forehead was covered in tiny white bumps which were just under the skin. (months later they eventually dissapeared)

wearing a hat will make seb derm, as apparently fungus thrives in dark moist areas.

but as twinkle purple has already stated i am sure Phlika will be able to help you with her good advice...she certainly has helped me.

hope everything works out for you.

Woah, are both of these things true? Because i noticed seb derm more after Vbeam(not IPL but still).
And I also wear hats a lot.
