    Default Rosacea or allergy?

    Hi Gang:

I was diagnosed with Rosacea almost 1 year ago.

I recently have taked 2 trips

The first was to Louisville, KY over a long Memorial Day weekend and the second was just this past weekend to Orlando, Florida for 4 days.

Each time I had no flushing episodes - none. In fact, while in Orlando - I was in a bus for over 1/2 with no A/C. I was hot as hell but no flare up and heat is my trigger. But soon after I returned my face turned bright red for 2 hours. I find this odd? Is it my house, work or all in my head?

Does this sound familar to anyone?

Get your home tested for mold, radon, carbon monoxide?? - probably a few things that could cause a reaction in your home.

What I find is that the natural summer heat is not as big a trigger as the dry unnatural heat of artifical heating. heat in summer tends to be slightly more humid helping to keep the face more moisturised whereas in the winter the heating can really dry the skin out. Plus going into a hot room from cold can really make me go, but if its hot everywhere..........

i experienced this same sort of thing while on holiday. almost everything that i would have thought were my triggers were present in Indonesia but i had no problems. every day i drank coffee, ate spicy food, was in tropical heat (with no A/C), lots of sunshine.. no problems. one thing that was missing was LCD monitors. i didnt use computers much over there.
back home after 2 days everything came back. im thinking it could also be an environmental problem.. maybe some pollution in my area. which would be bad news because that means its pretty much inescapable unless i move away.

I would definitely get thngs checked out as suggested by others but, I have also had the experience you are talking about. I found the key was hydration. Going out in the sun and then feeling flushed a few hours later makes sense when considering dehydrationa culprit. Also, when considering being in your house where you likely have air conditioning and forced heat, this also makes the place dry. I found the best way to combat the flush was to drink 10-12 glasses of water a day - particularly when you will be out in the sun, and to keep a few humidifiers going in your house at all times. I have had tremdous success doing just this. However, remember that rosecea is a rather unique disease and not everything works for everybody. This is what works for ME. It may work for you and it may not, but it is a simple solution worth trying I think.

    Good luck.

    Default mold?

I seem to have the same problem. When I am home, my symptoms are worse. I am a teacher and notice the difference when I have vacations from work. During these times off, I spend a good deal of my time at home. My rosacea also became worse when I moved into my house in December (06). Hmm. I plan on getting a mold test done.

Indoor heat is the killer for me. If I am outside even on hot hot days it does not bother me but bothers me in the winter indoor heat and bothers me indoors during summer if no ac sometimes. Jenn

Same for me. Indoor heat is the absolute worse trigger for me. When I'm home in the winter I always have my heat OFF!

My poor husband has to really layer on the clothes since all our heat is off!

I have just had the same experience. I had a week in dubai, it was really hot.... but my rosacea was hardly noticable all week.

As soon as I came back, two days of redness and flushing.

It could be the artificial heat here (-1 in Leeds at the moment.)
Another idea I had was that I drank only bottled water on holiday. I may do an experiment and only drink bottled water for two weeks.
