    Default Rosacea question

Ok, my face has always been red since i was born basically, and in about november, i started getting flare-ups and was diagnosed with rosacea.

I have permanent redness and flushing. 19 year old male.

My doctor gave me metrogel and finacea and some stuff to wash my face with.

Im noticing on one side of my face flareups have nearly stopped except for a small spot of red instead of the entire cheek, but the other side hasn't shown nearly as much, if any at all improvement.

Is this normal, and is it possible that i don't have rosacea? I've been reading online and my mom had hypothyroidism, and from what i've read causes redness/flushing as well.

    Hi

It's good that the metrogel and finacea are helping, even if on one side! How long have you been using them? It takes up to 3 months to see the full effect so maybe one side has just responded quicker than the other? The fact that they are helping would tend to imply that some kind of inflammation like rosacea is occuring, but that doesn't rule out other causes, like thyroid issues.

I would 100% ask your doctor for a thyroid test as well as general blood tests to rule out the other medical conditions, aside from Rosacea, that can cause facial redness and flushing. Most of them would cause additional symptoms that just redness or flushing but it's still worth checking.

Sometimes my flushing use to be one sided, although it's not anymore, and i think other people on here have found that Rosacea can occur unevenly. It could possibly be that that side is being aggrivated more, by sleeping on that side of the face, or heating vents being on that side, that side getting more sun etc, or there might be no good reason.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi,

I've been using them about 6 weeks. Im not sure if this is strange, but the "good" side of my face is the side i sleep on.

I'll definately take your advice on the testing.

    Thanks
