S.A.D. Light Boxes

Hi folks,
Peter out of interest do you know if the portable S.A.D light boxes would work if i just swapped the tubes over to red.They look very similar but was wondering if there was more to the portable RLT units than the red light.I also have a portable face tanner and wondered if the tubes could be changed on this aswell as the tubes look of similar size.

Sorry but I know nothing about the S.A.D light boxes but I think Millie uses one?

The unit I primarily use for rosacea is made up of 6 fluorescent tubes and it looks similar to a small facial tanner. The original unit I had was used as a prototype in the acne trial years ago and was actually a facial tanning unit with the special red and blue Sylvania tubes fitted. I suppose providing the power source is suitable and the tube fitting the same, then you could adapt your face tanner to do the same job. The tubes are expensive though so it might be more economical to just buy the correct unit with them already fitted.

Thanks for the reply Peter.Will have a look at the prices of tubes,as you say might be better off just buying a unit.
Have yet to put some pictures up to see wheather you guys think i have rosacea or permanent high colour .

The tubes can set you back £25 each so not cheap. If you want the same lamp as mine you might find some on E Bay going cheap although you will probably have to replace the blue tubes.

My advice before you try treating yourself is to book an appointment with your GP first for a proper diagnosis and if necessary get a referral to a dermatologist with a proven track record of treating rosacea. Fingers crossed but you might not have rosacea, so better to check first.
